It benefits us because we get to learn, it benefits others because we become better at using technology and can be better colleagues and teachers.

Digital Badging is an online professional development opportunity to help educators learn and become proficient at a variety of skill sets.  The benefit of digital badging is that participants can control the time, place, path, and pace they need to learn new technology programs.

Digital Badging is a way to complete small online modules to learn new technological skills designed by our Orchard Park Tech Coaches.  These modules will need to be approved through Frontline before credit can be awarded.  Each module has some sort of evidence that will need to be completed to show that the skill/concept was learned.  A reflection will also be required to provide further evidence on how the module can be used to enhance ones abilities.

Digital Badging is a way to get credit for each skill that we learn. The learning segments are small which makes them more manageable. You have to provide evidence of your learning throughout achieving the badge in order to get credit. It's convenient because you can work at your own pace and timeline. You can also choose only the specific topics that are relevant to you.

Digital Badging is a form of "micro-credential," in which the audience can learn mini-lessons on various technology resources. This type of learning can be customized to meet the learner's needs, and allows them to move at their own pace. There are many types of Digital Badging courses, which allow the learner to pick and choose what would suit their needs best. By completing Digital Badging courses, the learner can apply their acquired digital skills to their own classroom. It is a great way to learn independently and at your own pace, and then in turn, apply those skills in the workplace and classroom!

Digital Badging is a way for teachers in our district to earn microcredentials for various topics

You can earn "badges" through completing mini courses on various educational topics. Each badge comes with the completion of a course. These courses allow teachers to work through the material in a self-paced, asynchronous manner to gain knowledge and skills pertaining to a number of programs, websites, etc... that are supported by the district. In order to get credit for the badge, you need to first register for the course through Frontline and then join it through the digital badging webpage.

In order to complete a digital badge you need to do the following:

  • Apply and get approved on frontline.
  • Go to the digital badge site and create an account using the schools google/ sign in if you already have done so
  • Go to the correct badge and join.
  • Complete and submit evidence such as images, links or writyen reflections.
  • Hit the "Request Feedback" when finished
  • Once the feedback is sent you will get an email containing a certificate that can be uploaded into frontline to complete the processes.
It can benefit those that need to quickly gain a skill in a technology at any point during the year rather then at a set time.  You can also work at your own pace.

Digital badging is a series of online training.  Before taking this training you must apply to take it on frontline. Once you complete the training you are required to show evidence of learning as well as a screen shot of you watching the informational video.  The training can range from 1-3 hours.  Once you finish submitting the screen shot and evidence you must must submit your work for review. You will get a email after the reviewer looks at your provided responses.  You will then need to go back into frontline to finish submitting your completion of the badge.

Digital Badging is an opportunity to learn independently various tech tools available to us as teachers (ie Seesaw, google classroom, etc.).  The learner can choose their own path of topics and complete the learning at their own time, place and pace.  The important steps to remember in the digital badging process is to get approval through Frontline prior to starting and submitting your completed certificate in Frontline when you have completed the badges requirements.

Digital badging allows professionals to learn specific information or skills at their own pace. Digital badge courses usually range between 1-3 hours and are created by an organization to provide relevant professional development opportunities. After registering for the courses in Frontline and getting them approved, professionals join the badge and complete the tasks for each course. After submitting evidence of course completion, which consists of sharing an image, link, or written text, the work is reviewed by people within the organization. Feedback is given and a badge is awarded if the requirements are met, indicating the recipient's proficiency.
