Digital badging provides verification and information about a person's skills and is easily displayed as an icon. It is an easy way to see the skills people have and the specific areas of expertise they can be helpful with.

Digital Badging Process

Digital Badging is a personalized way to professional development.  It allows the learner to have control over how the course is completed and when it is completed.  Badges are made up of small chunks of learning so that the learner is able to take in all information and really get a lot out of the course they are taking.

This lesson explained how Digital Badging works, what it is, and what it is not. Digital Badging is an alternative to in-person professional development. Most badges recognize micro-credentials earned and lessons are not lengthy. Each badge requires participants to submit evidence in the form of screenshots, written responses and/or links to artifacts. The video showed how to take a screenshot, how to submit written responses, and how to share a link. It is important to register in Frontline and wait to be approved before working on a badge. Once a badge awarder reviews your evidence, you will receive an email with feedback. You can find certificates of completion in the Digital Badging community. Participants must upload their completion certificate into Frontline in order to receive credit.

Digital Badging allows the user to complete tech courses online, at their own pace, and of what interests that person.  The Tutorial explains how to access each Badge, how to post evidence, request feedback, and mark the course complete in Frontline.
I enjoy online classes where I can review what is taught and work at my own pace.
Thank you for offering these.

Digital badging allows people to learn technological concepts at their own pace.  Each badge has "evidence" you need to submit in order to earn your badge for a particular topic.

Digital Badging is a professional learning opportunity that allows you to gain expertise in small, specific topics while joining a community of learners who have done the same here at Orchard Park. It can be customized to meet our needs while allowing us control over time, place, path, and pace. Once the requirements of the course have been met, evidence is submitted and then reviewed before a digital badge is awarded.

I am really excited about Digital Badging. I love that you can select asynchronous PD that applies specifically to you, sign up through Frontline, and then begin by clicking on the badge of interest. It is great that the PD is short and very systematic. It seems that once you complete a badge, the process for learning and submitting your evidence and reflection is the same no matter what other badges you take. Your getting started video was so helpful. Thank you!
