Stafford- Reflection

Digital Badging is a micro-credential created in house, and is a type of professional learning that is an alternative to in-person events. It is an online resource that provides a way to teach skills to all staff members and is customizable.
Digital Badges are awarded by creators based on your work submissions. This work can be submitted as both visual and written evidence, in response to requirements for that class. You must submit work, completing all criteria, then request for you work to be reviewed. After you receive feedback, you may have to either make adjustments as needed, or download the certificate awarded. Once downloaded, you must add the certificate file into Frontline in order for your work to be marked complete. The benefits to using Digital Badges are that they are entirely asynchronous and allow you to spend as much time as you need in order to feel confident in the material covered.

Digital Badges offers educators a way to focus on small topics but big goals. It shows them how to improve on a topic and make micro-improvements to what they do every day in a more efficient way,

Kerra Mazzariello: Intro to Digital Badging Reflection

Digital Badging promotes individualized learning in an online community through tutorials, videos, and other activities. Rather than through "seated" courses, professional development hours for staff members can be earned via Digital Badging on topics such as Google Classroom, GoGuardian, Seesaw, etc. Badges on such topics can be earned at the learner's own pace and on their own time - when it is most convenient. There are also levels within Badges depending on the users' desired proficiency in that specific topic.

Rosanne Sánchez What is a Digital Badge?

Digital badging is a way to learn digital skills in small chunks called micro-credentials.  They are designed so that badge earners can learn at their own pace, time, & place until they have mastered a specific digital skill.  It is an alternative to attending in-person events and badge earners are part of a community so that learners can have access to others that have earned the badge and can seek help if needed.  The badge, once earned, also serves as evidence that the holder is proficient in that skill.

Digital Badging is a visual way to showcase specific skills and accomplishments. You must register through Frontline for the specific badges you want to earn, and then you watch a video, complete the tasks asked of you and then submit a screenshot of your evidence of learning and write a summary or reflection of what you have learned. This is a great way to learn at your own pace and review topics for as long as you need to.

Savannah Baker Reflection

Digital Badging is a great opportunity to enhance or learn new skills with quick and to the point virtual courses done at your own pace. With each course being a different topic, you are able to pick and choose which course(s) interest you in Frontline Education. Once you have been approved, you are then required to complete the training video and upload your evidence. The next step would be to select the Request Feedback option, which will allow you to earn your badge and receive credit in Frontline Education.

Digital badging offers personalized learning to a community of learners as an alternative to in-person, synchronous learning.  Teachers enroll in a badge of their choice, learn about a focused topic, and complete practice work.  This work is submitted with a reflection for review.  Users request feedback and after approval, they will receive a certificate to post in MLP.  Digital badging is an intuitive, user-focused opportunity for teachers and staff to improve specific instructional technology skills.

OPCSD has a new self-guided learning process called Digital Badging.  Unlike in-person classes, these courses are done online, and unlike online professional development classes, these are done completely at your own pace with no deadline.  They are short and sweet (1-3 hours) and currently include topics for digital resources that benefit our classrooms, students, and ourselves.  In the past, learning these topics was watching a video and submitting a code, but the new Digital Badging has a component where you provide evidence of your learning that is then reviewed and approved in order for you to earn your badge.  I'm very excited about many of the learning opportunities offered through Digital Badging!

Digital badging is a quick way to learn a new skill. The badges are set up to be 1-3 hours of asynchronous work, which is great because it is not an overwhelming amount. Also they are designed so you are focusing on a specific skill rather than an entire topic, which can sometimes be overwhelming. With badging you complete the required tasks and provide evidence of learning, it's as simple as that.

Orchard Park School District is starting a new way for teachers and SRPs to participate in Professional Development. The opportunity is called the Digital Badging Program.  The classes could run from 1-3 hours and are virtual. Classes will be in Frontline to sign up. Once you are approved, you can access Digital Badging in the OP Tech Hub.  You can find that by going to the OP Staff Bookmarks>Tech Hub>Knowledge Base>Digital Badging.  The class or “badge” will consist of a training video, proof of your new skill, and a reflection or explanation of the class.  This is a great opportunity for staff to take PD at their own pace on some great topics.

Lukas Gill Reflection

The Digital Badging process is a great way for teachers and other professionals to gain professional development experience while working at their own pace. Some benefits are that topics are generally smaller in focus and scope and therefore easier to "digest", badge earners can work at their own pace, and evidence of learning is more uniform across different badge opportunities. Earners sign up for a badge they are interested in earning, complete required tutorials, submit evidence of learning such as a screenshot or link to a document, and complete a reflection of their learning.

Digital badging is a new professional learning opportunity afforded to Orchard Park teachers. Badges are short, online, asynchronous training opportunities for teachers to become certified experts in specific areas of knowledge and abilities. To begin earning a badge credential, teachers should sign up for the badge in Frontline; once approved, teachers may begin the training modules. Teachers will watch video tutorials and will be provided opportunities to practice new skills. Once completed, teachers will be required to submit various pieces of evidence, from screenshots and links of performed work to written reflections. Once a badge is completed, teachers will request feedback and reviewers will look over a teacher's badge evidence and award a digital certificate (which will then be uploaded to Frontline to receive credit).
