Digital Badging helps you learn targeted skills through short, teaching videos. Once you sign up for a Badge in Frontline,  you follow the prompts in the Tech Hub to join the Digital Badging O.P. group. It walks you through how to show proof that is required, and ultimately, how to load the proof into Frontline. I'm hoping to learn many new skills through these Badges.

Digital Badging Evidence

Digital Badging classes are short videos that teach you how to use different technology pieces. These classes are 1-3 hours and give you a quick snapshot of what you need to know to be successful.

Digital Badging is a series of micro professional development sessions. They range from 1 to 3 hours and are created by Orchard Park on topics that are helpful to staff. It is an easy way to learn more about technology you are currently using or that you are interested to learn more about. One benefit is that you can access this PD from home and when it is convenient to you. You can also choose which digital badges you would like to complete based on what programs you may need more information about.

How to use digital badging.

Digital Badging is a great way for staff to learn more about the websites and apps that we use often. Staff must register first for a course on frontline, then they can create an account to start earning digital badges. They will need to find the digital badging website from the staff portal, and will need to type in the password to join the group. Once they join the group, they can view all the badges that the district has to offer. It is a great way to become more comfortable and learn more about a wide variety of apps like seesaw, google drive, gmail, etc. You need to make sure you post the evidence necessary to complete your badge. When you are done, you will have to get your work checked. You will then get emailed a certificate that you will post to frontline to get credit as well as take a survey.

Reflection

Digital badging allows teachers to build their skillsets to meet student needs. Through this, I can choose what topics or skills interest me. Then, I must go through the process of learning how to use each online resource and how to implement it effectively in my classroom. Afterwards, I complete the necessary evidence to showcase what I have learned. This is beneficial, as I can learn at my own pace and determine what I would like to learn.

Digital badging is a great way to learn more about specific topics of interest.  This program allows its users to work at their own pace whenever they have a free minute by watching videos then partaking in short activities.  In order to complete the badge, you are given the opportunity to reflect on what you have learned by snapping a picture, answering questions and/or attaching a link.

Emily Richey - Intro to Digital Badging Reflection

Digital Badging is a wonderful opportunity for staff members of Orchard Park CSD to complete online courses to learn how to use tech resources such as Go Guardian and Google Classroom. Participants are asked to login to the Digital Badging site to learn how to use these tech resources at their own pace. The Digital Badging site allows participants to provide evidence of their learning in the form of screenshots and reflections. Participants can also go in depth to learn about each of the tech resources to better be equipped to use them in their classroom. When participants have completed the requirements for the Digital Badge for each tech resource, they need to login to Frontline to complete an evaluation and upload a certificate showing the completion of each course. These Digital Badges are a great way for staff to learn how to use tech resources for their classroom.

Megan Weber- Intro Digital Badging

Digital Badging through the Orchard Park School District is great opportunity for educators to take part in professional development courses at their own pace online. Each course provides evidence to support learning along with a reflection where you can look back and reflect on what you learned specifically. This can be useful for the future and present times. This is a great system where individuals can earn certificates and are always easy to access. This can easily be shared and accessed online at anytime. It makes learning easier for all.

Digital Badging is a way to take digital PD courses at your own pace through videos and articles. Once you have complete the course you would post evidence to support your learning and write a reflection to demonstrate your understanding. There are various courses that allow the learner to pick and choose the topics that are most applicable to them. Once completed, you submit your data and request a certificate that is then uploaded to Frontline in order to receive credit for the course. Digital Badging provides virtual badges to demonstrate your achievements in your learning and professional growth.

Digital badging provides the opportunity for asynchronous professional learning that can be more tailored to individual needs/interests.  These courses can be done on your own time and at your own pace, which makes them very approachable.  They also allow you to tap into the expertise of others about topics that are relevant to our classrooms.  Upon completion of the course, you will also be given feedback on your work
