Megan Weber- Intro Digital Badging

Digital Badging through the Orchard Park School District is great opportunity for educators to take part in professional development courses at their own pace online. Each course provides evidence to support learning along with a reflection where you can look back and reflect on what you learned specifically. This can be useful for the future and present times. This is a great system where individuals can earn certificates and are always easy to access. This can easily be shared and accessed online at anytime. It makes learning easier for all.

Digital Badging is a way to take digital PD courses at your own pace through videos and articles. Once you have complete the course you would post evidence to support your learning and write a reflection to demonstrate your understanding. There are various courses that allow the learner to pick and choose the topics that are most applicable to them. Once completed, you submit your data and request a certificate that is then uploaded to Frontline in order to receive credit for the course. Digital Badging provides virtual badges to demonstrate your achievements in your learning and professional growth.

Digital badging provides the opportunity for asynchronous professional learning that can be more tailored to individual needs/interests.  These courses can be done on your own time and at your own pace, which makes them very approachable.  They also allow you to tap into the expertise of others about topics that are relevant to our classrooms.  Upon completion of the course, you will also be given feedback on your work

Explanation of the digital badging process.

Digital badging is a form of professional development (PD) that can typically be completed online between 1-3 hours per session. Digital badging courses focus on various online teaching sites and tools, and "certifies the holder [of the badge] is proficient in a specific skill or set of skills."

Digital badging is customized to meet individual needs.

Digital badges are an alternative to in-person classes, and they provide personalized learning while helping build a community of learners. The process begins by signing up for a badge in Frontline, joining the badge once approved, completing the badge and uploading evidence, and awaiting final badge completion confirmation by the badge awarders.

Digital badging is the evidence of a specific skill set that has been achieved through learning. It is a clickable icon that when clicked, shows the evidence of the learning that was achieved by a specific learner. Digital badging offers professional development that is individualized and able to be done at a learner's own pace. There are several topics for which a badge is available in the Orchard Park group. Each topic will show the requirements for the badge which will include a tutorial and providing evidence of learning and then a written reflection. One this work is submitted, it will be reviewed and a badge will be given to the learner.

Julie Rupp

Digital Badging covers a variety of topics that support teachers in this fast moving teaching with technology world. As someone who needs a bit of time to review and try out tech this is very supportive. I am able to do this at my own pace, watch the videos as many times as needed and pause while I am implementing the learning. In order to prove that I have taken the course I may be asked to submit a screenshot, which I learned about in this badge, provide a reflection- also learned here- and to provide a link if required- also learned here. I also like that I can go back and review anything I have forgotten in this location. Looking forward to expanding my horizons!

Lucie Wyatt- Intro to Digital Badging

Digital badging is a great way to learn about new technology. Many people benefit from using digital badging because they are able to complete the coursework at their own pace, at a time that is convenient for them. This form of learning is online, so people can complete it in any place that is convenient and comfortable. In order to begin working on digital badging, employees need to register for each badge they are interested in on the Frontline site. Then, they are able to join a badge and complete all of the required work. Once all work is reviewed, the employee will receive a badge, which will need to be uploaded to Frontline. An employee can complete as many badges as they would like.

Digital Badging is an online professional development opportunity that allows the learner to choose what new skills or sets of skills they would like to become proficient at. The learning is done in small chunks at a pace set by the learner. Tasks are completed and evidence is submitted for the badge to be awarded. The benefits lie in the fact that the learner is able to control the time, place, and path of learning.

Digital badging is a way to learn new inforrmation in a format that moves at the pace of the learner.  The tutorial took the learner through the process of preparing evidence and uploading it along with the process of writing a reflective response.  The learner was also able to learn how to navigate to see other badges that he/she previously earned.
