Intro to digital badging

Digital badging is a way to show that you’ve learned a skill or completed a task. You earn a badge by finishing a course or activity, and it’s saved online so you can share it with others. It helps people see what you can do and can make learning more fun.

Digital badging is a fully online avenue to gain experience with specific skills.

Digital badging is a great way to gain experience with skills on your own terms. It is done fully online and at your pace. Once you are registered into a digital badging course, you are able to see all of the necessary required evidence for each course. Additionally you are given the resources to be able to complete each task. Once all required evidence is complete, you select "post evidence" and request feedback in order to notify the reviewer that you are done with the course. Once you've earned your badge, you must save your certificate and post it to frontline in order to receive credit.

What is digital badging?

Through digital badging, teachers can explore a variety of topics that match their interests and instructional goals. They will use Frontline to request approval for each course, which helps ensure that all professional learning aligns with district priorities. Once approved, teachers can watch tutorials, experiment with new tools or strategies, and apply what they’ve learned in their classrooms. Each badge represents a meaningful step in their professional growth and provides recognition for the time and effort they invest in learning. Such badges include using google drive, google classroom, seesaw and more!

Digital badging is an online learning platform that allows educators to participate in effective professional development opportunities. Learners can join classes based on the skill/topic they want to learn more about. Some examples of badges may include lessons on Google Classroom, Go Guardian, and Gmail. The purpose of a badge is for a learner to achieve a specific skill or earn a credential in 1-3 hours. Learners must first join the badge, then complete the badge requirements, and submit evidence to earn credit for the badge.

Digital badging is professional learning that is offered in small chunks, and is able to be completed when it works for the person completing it. Each badge focuses on a skill and is not a large module of learning. The learner must submit evidence of understanding and completion, and feedback is given (vs solely completing a course and moving on.)
This intro was very helpful in understanding how to navigate these badges.

My Digital Badging course approvals have been sitting in my Frontline for far too long! I'm so excited to get started. The Intro to Digital Badging video provides a step-by-step YouTube video guide (that I watched on 2x speed with captions... it's how my brain works!) for accessing Orchard Park's digital badging group. Staff can complete badges at their own pace by uploading evidence, writing summaries of their learning, and requesting feedback for approval. The final step is to manage the course in Frontline.

Digital Badging is a type of professional development that can be taken at your own time and pace.  You are able to choose from many topics.  Once found a topic you would like to learn about, submitt a request in Frontline.  Once approved, you can begin taking the course or topic you chose.  You will need to take a screen shot of the video and post it for evidence.  You will also need to post a reflection.  You may need to post a link if you were asked to create something.  Then you will need to request your badge to be reviewed.  Then you will receive an email with your certificate.  Lastly, you will need to upload it into Frontline, fill out an evaluation, and mark your badge complete.

Digital badges are online awards for skills or learning, earned by completing tasks and shared to show progress and achievements.

Digital badging is a way to show that someone has learned a skill or completed a task using an online badge. Each badge is like a sticker, but digital—it includes information about what the person did to earn it, who gave it to them, and when. To earn a badge, a person usually finishes a project, learns something new, or shows they can do something well. Then, a teacher or program gives them the badge through a website or platform. These badges can be shared online, like on a resume or social media. Digital badging helps people stay motivated, shows others what they’ve learned, and makes it easy to keep track of their progress.
