How is this relevant to your future classroom? How could you use this? (This will help you to

I now feel responsible for connecting my future students to the world.

This is relevant in my future classrooms because now I know about all of the programs available for me to utilize that make global education possible. I’d never even considered doing any global project like what the school in India did, but now I feel like I have the responsibility to provide my students with that type of opportunity.

REFLECTION

I think participating in webinars like this is great because I learned so many things just from this one. I have never been that familiar with flip grid and now I feel like I know so many cool and helpful things about it. This webinar made me more comfortable with flip grip and it gave me great ideas to help me in my classroom. I am always thinking about new and exciting ways to make literacy and social studies and really all of the subjects fun, and I think integrating different types of technology with flip grid can be a great way to do that. I love learning new things like this that can help me in my future classroom and hopefully I can help my future co workers incorporate things like this as well.

This is incredibly important to my future career of teaching, and currently as a student. Professional development is something everyone can continually improve and take part in more often. By being given a resource like Participate, I am going to utilize the website for my current and future development as a teacher. I really enjoyed this webinar because it was helpful and informative.

Reflection

This is relevant to my future classroom because family engagement is important to children's education. It gave a graphic of a practices I could implement in my own classroom. Personally, I want to teach in Frisco and I know home visits are not acceptable but there was other knowledge such as, resources to offer to families, back to school night, positive phone calls instead of just negative ones, frequent personalized communication and newsletters I learned and plan to bring to my future classroom.

App Smashing Webinar Reflection

Whether or not I use Flipgrid in my future classroom, I like Erwin's ideas about combining the best features of different apps to optimize their effectiveness for teaching and learning. I particularly like the idea of having student record or explain their processes over a visual, like a project or other type of finished project, so that they can explain their thoughts. When this is in a video format, that video can then be edited and perfected by the student so that the teacher can give the best and most helpful feedback they can. I also think this is a good option for helping students who have a lot of anxiety around speaking and presenting. Having all or part of presentation prerecorded takes the pressure off and allows everyone to focus on the concepts involved.

Reflection

Overall I would say that this is a great workshop, and I would highly recommend this to my fellow teachers because of how it emphasizes the need of this progressive thinking. People need to constantly think of progress, and how to improve your skills as a teacher. I think this workshop helps provide the audience with ideas that are not apparent. I think this workshop helps spread ideas that are not popular in today’s educational climate. Teachers can get to stuck in there ways, and do not see the value in evolving their teaching styles. Teachers might think the traditional “teacher lecture student listen” is the best method to teach, but this workshop would spread the idea that you can change.

Reading

I feel like this is something really easy for the kids to use and for the teacher to be able to view the students reading ability at the beginning of the year. I also discovered that you can set a password on being able to view responses on the grid, so other students would not be able to watch other students ability to read.

Future Classroom

Scratch Jr. seemed like a very user friendly app that even younger children can use. I plan on using this in my future classroom to give students practice using coding skills. The younger we introduce these skills to children, the more likely they are to embrace coding as a future career option.

Be Inspired. Be an Innovator!

I did find this inspiring! I think it is relevant because it shows that any teacher can design an innovative learning experience that will still meet the content standards and will help students learn better. I could use this idea that games or missions engage kids and design my classroom that way. I like this idea and I think it would be really fun for me and my students! I think having my students do things and create things will be very useful for the to understand the content and apply to the real world.

Reflection:

This webinar provided me with a lot of information that could help me offer students the opportunity to examine whiteness in the classroom. There were many sources given on oppression, de-centering whiteness, talking about whiteness, confronting white privilege and strategic solutions. Since I am an early childhood education major, I could use knowledge from this webinar to help find appropriate ways to talk about skin color and alleviate biases that young children can have.

All professional development is great for future classrooms.

The first workshop after the opening event was extremely applicable to my future classroom. I learned about developing student driven inquiry questions for secondary students, that is, leading classes so students will ask productive questions to contribute to their learning. The speakers illustrated that while this is tricky, it is beneficial when the inquiry is led properly. An instructional plan ( such as the 5 e learning method) must be in place to achieve success. The other workshop was more for teacher organization, and they provided many helpful tools and methods to remain stress free in the classroom.
