Reflection

After reviewing the video within this badge, it is clear that the use of digital AI is becoming more prevalent with our future than ever before. While the transformation comes with many fears and uncertainties, I can’t help but wonder how fully supportive these platforms can become for educators and students alike. While the video discussed the endless possibilities that AI has to offer, there are many steps that individuals must be willing to take in order to become well informed on these platforms. They aren’t going away, rather they will be implemented faster than most think so we must find ways to diversify and inform ourselves on the benefits of these practices.
In education, our goal is to help students become future focused individuals and learners. In order to remain in this mindset, we must open our minds to the ways in which AI can help support us to achieve our goals with students. These tools are likely to impact future generations of learners. In order to support students in finding appropriate and reliable ways to use such tools, educators must begin acting as appropriate models on how to employ them.

What are your thoughts and possible predictions on industry and/or life moving forward. What role does education have on the use of AI?

Ai is here to stay and it will becore more intergrated into our daily life as time passes.  I do believe that many jos will be impacted by AI , but in many cases it will increase our production.  The worst thing we can do is to ignore it or hope that it will go away.  AI can be scary, but if we learn how to use it and how to benefit from it there can be positive impacts in out lives.

In education, we need to remember that we are preparing our students for the future and for the workforce that will include AI.  We need to teach our students what it is, how to use it, how it works, the risks, the strengths or weaknesses, how it can make mistakes and how is has a bias.  They need to know the technology that will be used in their future.

Reflections on AI

The use of AI in the future is inescapable. It is already seeping in to all facets of our lives, in ways we almost don't notice. It can be exciting to think about the ways AI will change our lives for the better, simplifying routine tasks and offering "experts" to teach and guide us. AI can already help us answer questions and complete research, when we think to use it.
I am particularly interested in trying out AI for lesson-planning. Student engagement in learning is our most important goal, and AI can enhance that. I want to look at the Khan Academy feature for making engaging hooks and full lessons in order to make my teaching more dynamic. The possibilities are endless with AI, and can truly be used to make our lives richer and easier in many ways. It will be interesting to collaborate with other educators on how and when to leverage AI for our benefit.

AI= I'm in!

What are your thoughts and possible predictions on industry and/or life moving forward.

After watching the videos, AI is not going away, that is just the reality of the situation. Companies, whether it is advertising or production of content are or will be using. I think that is exciting, there will be new types of jobs, new types of products. When we have a new tool, we can use it and adapt to what should be a more productive society. Will there be setbacks? I think there will be many. But will there be more good or production than those setbacks remain to be seen.

What role does education have on the use of AI?
Think of the ways I can alter my current lessons. The ability to create new math questions, or create questions WITH errors and have the students do error analysis on those! Personally, I know I can use them responsibly, but it will be the teachers job to ensure that we as a school or community teach responsibility, ethics, and digital citizenship.

  • What are your thoughts and possible predictions on industry and/or life moving forward.
I think it is hard to fully predict the impact of AI on the future of industry and life. This is still pretty new, and people have not had a chance to really play with it. Teachers can use it, but students cannot. Many people in industry will start to use it now without much training, perhaps a bit ad - hoc.

  • What role does education have on the use of AI?
As educators, I think we have a huge responsibility as these AI engines continue to roll out. It feels like ChatGPT has been around for awhile, with the seismic shockwave it has sent through our ecosystem, but it came out last year! We need to get our arms around this, and quickly. We need to help students know how to use AI, but also how to not abuse it. To use it to enhance their work, not to use to hide their lack of learning, but as a tool that aids their learning.

Part III

After watching this video, it's more evidence that  AI is set to become a major player in our future. Industries are likely to see a massive transformation, with AI becoming a go-to tool for efficiency and innovation. Starting with  personalized learning experiences to streamliing processes in various industries, the impact of AI is bound to be significant
As for education, it seems like a game-changer. The role of AI in classrooms is evolving beyond just a tech upgrade. It's becoming a key player in crafting education to individual needs, making learning more engaging and effective. I think were looking at a future where AI is seamlessly integrated into education, helping both students and teachers. It's not just about learning facts; it's about developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills with AI as a supportive assistant.

Part 3

It certainly feels like we are at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what AI is going to do for society. Many of the things that will come of. This are not going to be some thing that we notice on a day-to-day unless we really think about it. This might come in the form of the evolution of driverless cars or systems that run the day-to-day processes in our businesses and towns.

In education, a can see this really becoming a much more beneficial tool as time goes by. None of this was originally created with the intent of being used in education, it simply started to get used in education because educators who are forward thinking, started to see the potential it had. As some of the tools evolve, such as the Khanmigo tool in Kahn academy, we might see more adoption and acceptance by others in our profession, and a lot more willingness to have students utilize these tools to become those tutors in the room that we often do not have the time ourselves to be. When you think of differentiation and support and how much of that is now necessary in our classrooms, my hope is that AI is at some point going to be a better bridge to getting students the supports. They need on a daily basis, both in school and at home and also lessen the burden on the classroom teacher, who has pulled in so many directions.
As I said, in the part to fireside discussion response, I think we are going to see the education having to play a large role in teaching students about when and why these tools should be used in their daily lives. When we think of what a graduate needs to be successful in both college and beyond my prediction is that AI tools are going to have to be part of that, as a skill set that students learn so that they can implement what they know about using these tools in both college, and in their future careers. Being a prompt engineer is already a job that someone can be paid handsomely to do.  These types of roles are only going to increase and evolve as years go by in the tools get better and better. They may not be prompting engineers as careers in the future, but there will be some thing related to AI (or many things related to AI is probably a better way to put it) that students would be able to leverage as a career fieldin the future.  As educators, we've always been at the front line of instructing kids on some of these new evolving technologies and careers that they may be able to embark on if it interests them and I don't see any reason why that won't be similarly important as AI grows in our society.

Reflection

Although the thought of AI & change in general can be scary, the use of AI in industries and our everyday lives will continue to grow.  It is not going away.  New technology and inventions have resulted in individuals being able to complete tasks more efficiently and in a shorter amount of time. I can foresee AI being used in a wider variety of fields.  I continue to think back to the crazy statistic in a previous SH Badge course.  It was mentioned that approx. 80% of the jobs kindergartners will later hold in life are not even in existence yet.  This is all new territory for us to charter. I'm sure there will be many people who do not want to change or incorporate these new resources, but hopefully there are more benefits than setbacks to using AI.

We are only beginning to touch on the ways educators and students can use AI. It was mentioned that AI can help educators to make old lessons in a new creative way, find images and even incorporate best practices.  However in the future, it may become part of our job as educators to incorporate digitial citizenship skills and safety that include the use of AI.

Part III-Liberta

What are your thoughts and possible predictions on industry and/or life moving forward.I know it may be a very unpopular opinion at the moment, but I am personally very fearful of AI and it’s place in education and in many industries as we move forward.  As cool and quick as it may be… I cannot help but view it as the death of creativity, individuality, the thought process, and valuable human input.  I cannot help as a Social Studies teacher but to think about the Luddites of Great Britain who raged against the machines of the industrial revolution that were replacing them.  Or Karl Marx describing mechanization as the death of the skilled craftsman and creation of cogs in the wheel.  In our rush to advance to the newest and coolest thing?  Have we sacrificed ourselves? At the same time I am a person who embraces technology and human advancement, therefore as an educator I feel it is our new found duty to explore AI and find a way to make it fit appropriately in the education setting rather than fight the uphill battle.

This leads to the next prompt about the role education has in the use of AI.  As much as it concerns me I do not see AI going away.  Through this badge I discovered it is already embedded in algorithms, programs, and the cookies that guide our searches daily.  Just like studying and implementing the newest educational philosophies and strategies that arise, I feel the role of educators in using AI should be to take a deep dive and find ways to use it to further creativity and not eliminate it.  Use it to generate responses and have students analyze them and vet them.  Use them to create original art depicting our learning… etc…. AI is here to stay.  As educators we need to step up and find a way for it to have a place in our classrooms as a tool.
