Implementation Portfolio

I used the LINCing routine in my small group instruction.  I have 20 students in my collaborative classroom.  Three students have an IEP.  I introduced the procedure as a whole group and then I eventually moved the routine to small group literacy centers.  The students have 8 words to complete between Monday and Tuesday (4 on Monday, 4 on Tuesday).  The words given are the vocabulary words that go along with our weekly story.

Implementation Portfolio

I used the LINCS table as part of my small group literacy stations. There were around 20 students in the collaborative classroom (3 students with an IEP). For the first week we complete the table as a group during whole group instruction. The students would then complete the table independently during their vocabulary station. We used our weekly vocabulary words for the table. We have 8 words each week in total. I divided the words and the students would complete 4 at a time. Initially the students would need a little extra time to complete the table. After they had mastered the concept they would work on the table for about 20 minutes. The students would keep the table in their vocabulary folder and have as a study guide for their weekly vocabulary test. I began the process in October of this current school year and am still currently implementing the table in my instruction.

Portfolio Implementation

The vocabulary Lincing routine used in my 8th grade ELA self- contained class with five boys and one girl. Most students have a Specific Learning Disability, Emotional Disability, or Other Health Impairment. Students read on either a Beginner Reader level to third grade level. The Vocabulary LINCing Routine was used in small group remediation for 45 min when introducing a new thematic unit or short story two times a month. (First as an initial vocabulary teaching tool and then to review of vocabulary).

We used this LINCS table with a group of 6th grade inclusion students.  There were about 26 students in the class.  There are about 10 Sped students in the class.  We completed it in about a class period which is 45 minutes.  We used this as a review for our test on Sequences.  We had been working on this topic for about a week prior to completing.  This was our 3/4 period class.  It meets around 9:30 - 11:15 daily.
