Group/Student Characteristic

The 5th grade class we were working with is a homogeneous group of 21 students.  Of those students 8 have IEP's, 2 504 plans, and 3 ESOL students.  For my group, I was able to pull a group of 6 students, 2 with IEP's, 1 current 504 student, 1 ESOL student and one student currently in the Child Study process.

We have used the LINCing routine on and off throughout the year as a review activity.  The goal of using the LINCing routine is to include a group of students who have some challenges with our current vocabulary words we are using.  It is especially helpful for fifth grade math since many terms are new and different and ones they haven't had much exposure to.

Years of Implementation

I have been using LINCing Routines for 10+ years.  During that time I have used it with various groups of various sizes in math, history, and science.  As a SIM/CLC demo site we were expected to use routines on a regular basis.

I was observed co-constructing a LINCing Table with my students and the completed observation form is attached to this document.   I was observed in a Math 8 / Pre-Algebra class of 21 students.  of those 21 students, 11 have been identified as special education students and four additional students have 504 plans.
