Reflection - Google Classroom 1 - Erin Sall

I have found Google Classroom to be an invaluable tool in managing materials and content for my students. I use it as the platform to give my students access to digital copies of handouts, upload videos of lectures, manage online resources and assessments, and publish announcements. My students have access to everything that we do live in class so there are never any excuses that they did not receive something or missed an announcement due to absence from class. I know there are many other functions of Google Class to explore, but I have already found that Google Classroom has completely revolutionized the way my classroom materials and content is managed.

Google Classroom is a great way to keep classes organized and have a consistent platform for all teachers and students. Google Classroom can support my classroom in many ways, including:
Streamlining assignments - Create and distribute assignments quickly and easily.
Create announcements -  share resources with the entire class or individual students.

Great review of Google Classroom

I had used google classroom frequently during the pandemic and online learning.  Even with using it on a daily basis in the past, this class still taught me new things that I will be able to use in the future.

I have already used Google classroom, but I learned a few new things in this lesson.  I didn't realize that I could change the join code and I also have not utilized the "copy link" feature to email my students an invitation link.  I usually just include the join code in an email to my students, but the link will be more useful.  I also plan to use the "co-teacher" feature because often, all six of the counselors need to post in 1 classroom.  The things I learned in this lesson will allow me to be more organized and streamline my communication with students.

I use Google Classroom almost every day in my 3rd-grade classroom. I love all the features that it has. One thing that I had forgotten about is that you can limit students' comments on the stream. I always teach the students what should and should not be commented on in the stream but it is nice to know that, the stream can be turned off if they are having trouble following the expectations.

Google Classroom as a tool

Using google classroom is an excellent tool for creating and managing mu online teaching.  I can post assignments, and provide feedback!  The students are very tech saavy, and this can be a very student-centered tool as well!

I use Google Classroom regularly and had a lot of these tips down. But, I had no clue you could use powerschool, class, copy to invite students! I have always typed students names in one by one. This will be a HUGE time saver. Thank you!

I am excited to use my new Google Classroom to post work for students to complete independently during centers or during block time. Using the Google Classroom will be a great way to post videos, online games, etc. for students to complete. I was happy to learn how to mute individual students or turn off commenting on the Google Classroom stream because often times students use that feature too much and then the important announcements get lost in the mix.

I think the most helpful thing I learned in this badge was that you can turn off your class code! I had no idea. I also think learning about the stream and changing the settings to where students either can or cannot post to the stream. This will help my teaching because it will make my classroom better. Students commenting on the stream is not for me.

I use the google classroom every day in my classroom.  It is very helpful when students are absent for various reasons.  I have students submit all homework assignment to the google classroom.  I then look over their math homework and it gives me an idea on how they are progressing through the unit.  What I need to talk about or not.  I like all the different ways a students can join the google classroom.

Google classroom is an integral part of my classroom. Students submit all homework assignments on google classroom. This gives me the opportunity to really look at their work, send comments, corrections, and positive feedback. Everyday I post homework assignments and either a video or pdf of the lesson taught. This has allowed absent students to be able to see what was covered and get the information without having to wait until they return to school. So many concepts in math build off the previous day so this helps keeping everyone as up to date as possible. In the video I learned that I can turn off the classroom code - I never knew that before. I also typically just give the students the classroom code to join on the first day of school but was interested in how many different ways students can be asked to join.
