When grading the constructed response questions, teachers have the ability to score students responses using a rubric of anchor responses. They are able to give student scores of 3,2,1, or 0 based on sample responses from the top of the screen. The students’ responses are listed on the left and the teacher scores them on the right. There are several options when grading constructed responses such as the ability to hide the students’ names, automatically save scores, and hide students who don’t have constructed responses to grade.

Grading CR questions

In a constructive response question, students are required to answer the specific question. A teacher must then manually grade the student’s response using the given rubric. These rubrics allow the teacher to compare and evaluate the student’s responses. The teacher then gives the student a rating of 0, 1, 2, or 3.

Grading CR responses

When the test has CR questions/responses, the teacher must go in and manually grade each of the answers.  I will use is 1-3 rubric to evaluate if the student's answer has met the criteria that was previously given for that/those questions/responses.  AFTER the teacher has gone into EADMS and graded each of the responses, the final score is given and it includes the student's complete score.  EADMS does NOT grade CR responses, that must be manually done by the teacher.

The teacher will grade each student’s response based on a given rubric.  They compare the response to the rubric and give the student a score of 0, 1, 2, or 3.

Feedback and grading options teachers have when grading CR questions.

Grading the constructed response questions can be a great tool for teachers to use in PLC.  Teachers are provided a rubric, as well as the prompt and student responses.  Teachers can then use this information to calibrate their own scoring between their team.  This opportunity would be useful in generating quality discussions amongst the team about student learning as a whole as well as common issues that might arise in student responses.

Grading Constructed Response Items

Teachers has a rubric they use to score students.  They see all the students responses and can grade them collectively and then move onto the next constructed response item. Constructed responses need to be graded to get final scores.

Constructive Response

Looking at a  constructive response question the teacher is able to view the reading passage and question at the same time.  The teacher also has the ability to grade students work with a convenient rubric to stop any confusion. After scrolling further down the page, The teacher is also able to see the scoring area while also being able to look at any grammar errors made by the students. Another advantage is the teacher can look at the students work with the students name hidden ensuring there is no bias in the grading as constructive responses vary.

CR Summary

The Constructive Response tool in EADMS provides grading rubrics that include scores, descriptions of successful responses (and other levels), and samples for each corresponding rubric scores.   Teachers have the ability to grade single question items at one sitting – to keep constructive response consistent and accurate in accordance with the rubric.   There are many options for the teach to choose from – it seems that one useful option is to “hide” student information that allows the teacher to just focus on the quality of the student response instead of taking into consideration who he student is.   All information in the Constructive Response tool is auto-saved.

CR Summary

When scoring the Constructive Response questions for a student the teacher has autonomy in his/her grading. In fact, the teacher must manually grade the student responses before the grades can be recorded and finalized by EADMS. The teacher has access to sample student responses, exemplars, and rubrics to help determine the rubric score of 0 – 3. Teachers can then input these scores in a linear fashion on EADMS looking at all student responses at once, or choose to look at each student individually.

Grading Constructed Response Options

When you use constructed response questions within testing, there are different feedback and grading options teachers have. Each CR has a rubric with scores from 3 to 0 with anchor responses to compare student answers to. You are able to grade individual students on multiple questions, or jump to an item and, for example, grade all #5 responses at one time. You can choose several view options depending on teacher preference- showing the students name or hiding it as well as the student information and item numbers. All information auto-saves and adds information to the auto scores.

Constructive Response in EADMS

The teacher can view the reading passage and question when grading a Constructive Response in EADMS. The grading rubric provides scores, response descriptions, and sample responses for each possible rubric score. Teachers then can read the student responses. The teacher can read the student response, determine a score, and click the earned rubric score. The teacher can scroll up and down on the page in order to check the response descriptions and sample responses to effectively determine an accurate score for the student work.
