Grading CR on EADMS

First you must select the test, review the criteria for anchors, and then begin to go through the student responses in the CR box. Grade by clicking the 3,2,1,0 boxes. If wanted you can choose to hide the student information. You will grade all the numbers and then it will jump to the next question. It will automatically save and be factored in to their overall grade.

Constructed response is easy and simple with a rubric provided.

When grading a constructed response question in EADMS you first select the CR icon.  At this point you can see all of the test questions and directions that the students sees.  You are provided with a sample response and a 0,1,2,3 rubric for grading. Once you mark the student's score.  When you finish, you are able to change the question you are grading.  This allows you to  move quickly and seems more manageable.

Constructed response

When grading constructed response, after selecting the CR grading icon, you select the test you would like to grade.  You will see the question the way they students saw it and a grading rubric.  You will see all students in all your classes who have taken the test.  You will also see the answers the way that the student wrote them.  Using the rubric the teacher can grade the responses, by selecting the numeric grade.  The program will automatically save your progress after each grade is recorded.

Grading CR items

After selecting CR questions to grade, the system allows you to select your specific assessment. Once open, you see the same prompt as the students. Below is a 0-3 point rubric along with sample responses. Further down the page, you can view each response as the student typed it and assign points. Once completed with all student responses, you can switch to a different question number at the top and continue to grade.

Teachers sees the question, response, and rubric. Teacher can select 0 - 3 based on the student response. 0 is for no response.

CR grading using the rubrics

Clicking on CR grading gives you options for hand grading tests.  Teachers are can see the question, rubric descriptions, and sample anchor responses.  All the answers are shown at a glance.  Scores are input according to the rubric one question number at a time.  As you score each response by clicking the bubble.

CR Grading

CR Grading seems to be an easy way to manage grading for multiple tests.  You can read the directions for each question and read each response individually, so even if you are not the one that gave the test, you can still do the appropriate grading.  It is very quick too, as you just have to mark 1, 2, or 3 next to the question.  Then, when you are finished, you change the question that you are grading.  It seems to be quick and manageable and allows for more graders so that the tests are grading in a more timely manner.

constructed response grading

This is a great feature. I like that the rubic is already set up for you. Having a rubic right above the answer helps to keep grading consistent among all students. Also, it is helpful that the answer is exactly (including all punctuation etc.) as the student has written it. Having the answer broken down into sections makes it easy for tracking.

Constructive Grading is not a difficult process.

For CR Grading, you click on the CR Grading Icon from the home screen. You click on the test that has the questions you want to grade and click select. It will show you the instructions and questions as the students see them, a grading rubric, and show you a spreadsheet of the students responses. You read the response, determine the rubric score, and mark it in the bubble next to the response. Once you've graded all the responses, you can move on to the next CR question and grade the responses.

Grading contructed responses with an inbuilt rubric

I think with NGSS entailing a lot of short and long answer contructed responses, adding questions and grading them is easy on EADMS. Based on a 3 2 1 0 rubric, it's easy to look for specifics and grade accordingly.

As a second grade teacher I am always looking for ways to help prepare my students for the SBAC that they will take in 3rd grade.

I intend to create some tests requiring constructive responses so that my students will have the opportunity to write a sentence or two responding to a question.  They will have access to a rubric so they will know what is expected of them.  After we have practiced these together a number of times I will be able to administer and grade their responses using the rubric and sample answers.
