How is this relevant to your future classroom? How could you use this? You can talk about your ISTE standard of choice here as well. This reflection should be specific and should be a healthy paragraph--not a few simple sentences.

Evidence on technology in the class!

Being able to use apple technology in the classroom is innovative and allows students to explore the internet with a variety of apps and resources. I personally thought I was knowledgeable about how to use these different apps on my ipad, but it turns out I wasn't quite understanding about all the things these different apps have to offer. I think it is very important for teachers to use these apps in the classroom and teach students the proper way to use them in the classroom. These apps allow students to explore and further their understanding on certain topics and ideas, which can be very beneficial for their overall knowledge. I decided to choose ISTE standard 4a which is, "dedicate planning time to collaborate with colleagues to create authentic learning experiences that leverage technology". I believe these apps will and do allow children to work together and expand their current learning experience and leverage on technology.

I think it is always important to be cognizant of how technology works, especially as a teacher. Technology can be such a beneficial tool in the classroom and with that being the case, teachers must know how to properly use it. Students should not be expected to utilize technology in a meaningful way if they are not shown how. I believe that teachers should model the use of technology in the most positive way. As well as this, the use of technology is becoming increasingly more and more prevalent in all classrooms. This reiterates how important it is for teachers to be aware of how to provide the most beneficial, constructive, and meaningful technological instruction. I could use the knowledge that I learned from these quizzes in many ways as a teacher. For example, I could ask students to make an iMovie over their favorite historical figure. Along with this, before these quizzes, I was not too familiar with Keynote. I was intrigued by the fact that this tool allows you to create charts that can be adapted for many lessons. For example, a lesson on probability. I appreciate the knowledge that I gained from earning this badge and feel that it laid an excellent foundation for my success in technology use.

Although I was aware of the many capabilities the IPad apps had (iMovie definitely has a positive reputation all on its own), I’m glad I had the chance to really go step by step and find out exactly how useful some of these apps are. iMovie especially has a lot of appeal to me, because as an English Ed. major, I’m going to have to brainstorm ways to test my students’ knowledge on covered material that doesn’t default to a plain quiz or test. I remember how when I was in highschool, we chose characters from The Crucible to do mini-presentations on; I would like to do something similar in a lesson plan of my own. iMovie would definitely be a fun AND engaging way to do that! Visual projects like this would go with the “Creative Communicator” ISTE standards for students, since it challenges them to make use of digital media to create their own presentation.

Using apple teacher could be very useful in the classroom. Through Ipad apps as educators we can engage our students and make learning fun for the students. This would be a great alternative compared to just having a lecture or reading a textbook. It can also help students foster creativity because there are many ways they can express themselves through their work on the ipad. When talking about ISTE standard #5 the apple teacher program works great with the standard because students can learn independently and different ways through the apps. Students might also retain information better through ipad activities/project rather than listening to a lecture.

This is relevant in my future classroom because it shows many different ways to use IPAD apps for different activities. The relevance of technology is only increasing, and will continue to increase. I never realized how much I didn't know about these apps and how to use them. There are different ways for children to show their work and many ways to differentiate for each type of learner. It also ties into my standard viewing the teacher as a learner. The more I learn about different ways to use technology, the better I can implement it. I will continue to learn and choose the best way to use the information I have gathered.

My reflection for apple teacher.

All of this information is super valuable. I did not know how to use a lot of these apps on my iPad because I am not to tech savvy. I can also teach my future students how to use these apps for assignments and projects. One Idea I had was with keynote. I could have my students all draw a country and then make a presentation for their country. They can use the audio if they don't want to present. They can also make charts for their country and draw and use shapes. I could also make this a group thing and they can use the callaberation tool and use it with there peers.

Relevance to future classroom

Learning to use Apple technology will be relevant to my future classroom because it will help me integrate it effectively. If I don't understand how to use these things, I will likely avoid using them in my classroom. If I use them in my classroom and don't understand them, I won't be able to help students who have questions. These different uses of technology can help both myself and my students explore our creativity and do things in untraditional ways that may make learning more fun and personal.

This is relevant to my classroom because...

This is relevant to my future classroom because many districts issue their students iPads. It is also good to have knowledge on many different platforms. If Google Slides, or Microsoft Powerpoint is unavaliable, it is good to be able to know how to use apps like Keynote, and iMovie. iMovie can be a good source to create a lesson that is not solely based off of worksheets or book work. It can be fun for students to use a platform that lets them be creative. I think the ITSE Standards for Educators Facilitator standard is being met with this activity. The lesson would create a process that allows students to be innovative and solve problems. In the ITSE Standards for Students meets the Knowledge Constructor standard. Students use a varitey of different platforms to produce creative artifacts. I think an activity that uses any of these platforms can be super useful in the classroom. Students love using technology, especially when it can be more fun. Creating a response to an activity like a TedTalk would be fun for students to practice new skills!

Ipad certification reflection

Learning these apps was much more difficult than I thought it would be. I thought that it would be easier because I feel that I am adept enough at technology. However, I found that I have little knowledge about the full capabilities of these apps. I learned a lot. Not only did I learn new ways to utilize these apps, but I also realized new ways that I can apply these apps in education. These quizzes have helped me see the value of technology and technology training for teachers.
My favorite application was numbers. As a physics/science teacher, I am excited to enter data into tables and manipulate math in fun ways. At the very least, Numbers will be an awesome application to use for labs. I can see myself displaying data that we as a class collected both collectively and individually. Obviously, I cannot do all of this alone, so letting my students organize this data in numbers will be great practice for them. I can also use it to display grades and data pertaining to student learning. I am also excited to allow my students to use keynote and pages to illustrate concepts.

As a former student of a very small school this will help me in many ways. Prior to this class I have not had any experiences with iPads or much technology for that matter. I think it is important to introduce students to technology throughout their education journey so they do not get overwhelmed when they get out into the real world. I have also found that by incorporating some sort of technology in your classroom students can become more intrigued in the materials being taught. ISTE Standard 5 was about Design which can be implicated in the classroom in numerous ways. I could use technology as a way to personalize learning for students who have learner differences and needs. I am also able to design my own creative activities that correspond with what I am teaching.

Reflection

As a college student is a global pandemic, classes were shifted to solely online. After being educated on the use of an iPad in class, this will help further my ability to connect to students and use my technological resources in the future. Looking into the future, it seems that the typical classroom will not look the same as it did before the pandemic. Rather, the use of technology will further increase by teachers and the gaining of knowledge isnt just lecturing, in-person, in front of students. The iPad is a simple item that can go a long way in the classroom from the way we can communicate, relay information, and much more. The apps within this resource have an unlimited freedom to students to get their hands on new information.

This will be very relevant to my future classroom. I have never used an iPad before so this workshop allowed me to fully learn all the unique features of my iPad. I can use these workshops for my own class as well. We could go through the keynote lesson as a class and take the quiz together to earn our badge before giving the class an assignment that uses keynote. I think this could be used with the ISTE standard of Designer. After learning these features, as an educator, I will be able to design creative and unique activities for the students.
