Physics Is A Visual Science

Physics is a visual science; that statement says it all. iPads give educators and students the ability to express physics concepts in new and innovative ways that not only capture the beauty of the math that makes up the science but the visual representation of the natural world on screen. Using the various applications iPads have, students can create presentations on physical applications of physics, creatively display lab data, and show their capability in using technology to express scientific knowledge. Beyond displaying their knowledge, iPads give students a new facet of collaboration, an important skill in all sciences. My future classroom will not be one of simple lecture; it will be one of creative, fun, and educational lessons that not only teach students about science but how to express themselves in all the incredible ways iPads allow us to.

I think the iPad apps will be extremely useful in my future classroom. While I prefer PowerPoint over Slideshow, I think it is a great tool that gives students more options for how they wish to make their presentations. I also think iMovie is a great resource for creative projects for students, and I plan on using it often in my classroom. Numbers I will probably never use as a Social Studies/English teacher, but it is a nifty tools for math and science instructors. I'm going to be honest, it took me a couple of tries for most of the quizzes due to the sheer number of things you can do with these programs, and I think being knowledgeable in them will help make not only preparing lessons but also having students use these tools much easier.

I learned a lot through gaining my Apple badges. All of this will be very relevant in my future classroom because it will allow me to present information in a way that students can easily understand and access. Not only that, but it allows me to teach students to use these apps as well. When I was in elementary school, we never really used much technology individually. However, in middle school and high school I used it a lot more. One of my favorite things to do was to use iMovie, but I always found it very complicated. With this new information I can ensure that my students understand and enjoy this new technology in the classroom, bettering their overall understanding.

iPad

Apple has provided numerous functions across its different platforms that can easily be utilized in an educational environment. These functions enable students to be creative when displaying they're learning. For example, students can record videos of themselves performing a lab experiment. Utilizing iMovie, they can then generate a short film discussing their findings and procedures!

Future Classroom

This will be helpful in my future classroom because some of these apps that I earned badges for, I had never used before this class. This allowed me to play around with them and learn about all the features of these apps. For example, the app keynote I had never even opened before. Completing my apple badge allowed me the opportunity to read all about the features of the app, and then quizzed me on certain features in order to make sure I retained the information. When taking these quizzes I had the app open so I could walk through certain steps and visually comprehend different options. One app I know I will use in my future classroom is the app iMovie. I used this app in school as a kid and I had so much fun creating different projects. This app has so many features available and it is a great way for students to display their knowledge in a creative way.

Learning how to work with these apps gives me access to more information and technology to expand on my teaching ability. Students will enjoy working with these apps and can potentially learn a large amount from them

I definitely thought that I was knowledgable about these apps, but there's a lot that I didn't know. These could be very helpful in the classroom. I thought that the charts and graphs are a very easy way to introduce students to those concepts. They can input the data and then the iPad can format that data in a plethora of ways. It's can be a bar graph, a pie chart, or a spreadsheet. Students can see their data in these formats, rather than trying to figure out where their data points go and how to calculate sums from the data, etc. It's saves a lot of explaining and becomes very easy to understand, because it happens immediately in front of them.

This is extremely relevant to my future classroom because since technology has become so fixed in our society, it has provided us with opportunities to expand the learning capabilities of other students who previously might have felt limited by the lacking variety of educational resources. With these tools, students can learn valuable skills that can be carried into their future academics and job prospects. Hopefully, with this technology, students feel schoolwork can also be a creative outlet rather than an endless series of chores.

Technology is needed and it can save money.

The content covered from the apple teacher badges is relevant to my future classroom because technology is strongly integrated into classrooms that we would have to look into features and software like what Apple provides for teachers. I found that using keynotes would be extremely useful for a meaningful and appealing slide presentation. I want to comment that it is simple and fun to use. This can be useful in the future to showcase math theorems, examples, and problems to students. Knowing that school supplies are not cheap, free-use technology would definitely help save me some money while being able to teach students financially stress-free.

I learned an incredible amount about how to properly use an iPad and also all of the cool tools that are incorporated with it. I was able to explore so many features that I’ve never even seen before or heard of. It was so cool to open my mind to so many new doors of technology that I had never been exposed to previously. With technology being some thing that is growing so fast, it’s hard to keep up and I think the certification has helped me tremendously. I will be able to use this for my future classroom because I will be able to assist the kids and use these tools to better their education. This will help us not only be on the same level but also grow together in new ways and explore the variety of things we can do with technology. I will get to use these apps that I learned about different projects in the classroom to use differentiated instruction. I am sure there are going to be so many new things with technology by the time I have my own classroom but having these tools under my belt will help me be on the right path towards having a classroom that is not only fun but functional and technologically advanced.

I was able to learn many different aspects of Apple's App's and how they could be used with students and teachers. Teachers have the ability to track scores, grades, and students participation in group projects. Teachers along with students could use these apps for interactive presentations, not just the average presentations but Apple has made it easy enough for students to create movies, moving charts, pictures with diagrams, their creativity can run wild in the apps. Apple iPad is available to all students enrolled in Norman Public Schools and therefore this teacher badge program is very relevant for where I plan to teach. I am an early childhood undergrad so the children I will be teaching can use these apps in various ways starting with easy to difficult, or when we are engaged in a project, as a class we could make a movie of our findings, or use a chart to show the progress of a plant we are growing. The possibilities are endless and this gives me a sense of ease knowing there is a resource out there to learn more about the applications.

It's kind of crazy to me that Ipads are beginning to be a big thing in the classroom. When I was in school Ipads were just a cool thing to play around on - garage band and Imovie were big things I used to love to play around with. Now, kids get the chance to use these things as learning tools and that just blows my mind. It was a lot of fun learning how to use my Ipad more in-depth. Can't wait to be able to show off my new skills when I have my own classroom! :)
