Monitoring Progress

I would utilize GoGaurdian as formative assessment of student progress when working on digital assignments. I use a few different digital tools in class. While the students work their questions are randomized so being able to access their screen I could support them through their specific questions as they work.

With Go Guardian you and choose what websites students can use when they have an assignment.  You can also block websites that you do not want them to use.  I like that you can monitor what students are working on from your computer as well as get alerts if they get onto a different website then they are supposed to be on.

GoGuardian allows me to keep track of what my students are spending time on. I like the timeline so I can monitor how much time they were on each website and how frequently/when they switched. When viewing their screen, I can check that students are on task and help when necessary. I appreciate that even when students are not sitting directly with me, I can monitor their engagement on Chromebooks and what sites they are on.

I have used GoGuardian in the past- yet understand so many new aspects of it after this tutorial.  I teach second grade and my students do use their Chromebooks for various reasons.  During small group instruction, some of my students may be reading on Epic, Bookflix, etc. while I am working with other students.  I love the "off task alerts" aspect of this program.  I have had many children in the past who have gone on to Google or a math game instead of following instructions.  This is a great tool for classroom management and internet safety for myself and my students.  I also love the idea of searches being related to the subject area.  In my current classroom, I feel like the classroom management piece is what I will focus on at this time.

GoGuardian

Using GoGuardian in my classroom will allow me to monitor my students' progress and ensure they are on track throughout my lessons. All of my students enjoy using their Chromebooks for class activities, so GoGuardian will help make sure students are using their devices responsibly. The engagement reports after the sessions are also helpful, as they show me how productive students are. Overall, GoGuardian is a great tool that takes the stress of monitoring students' work off my plate.

I use chromebooks during block time and have a few requirements on the order of student activities. I am often working 1:1 with other students during that time. Using GoGuardian can help me monitor what my other students are doing on their chromebook and allow them to move from one activity to the next at their own pace without me having to be right over their shoulder. I love that I can look after a class too so I can check their activities. This will help keep them engaged in the activities they need to do and help me multitask!

Emily Richey - Go Guardian 1 Reflection

Go Guardian is a tool teachers can use to monitor student devices in real time and give immediate feedback to students on their work because it makes it easier to see what students are working on. I look forward to using Go Guardian in my Science classes particularly when students are working on group projects. We have a few projects throughout the year where students are encouraged to work together to create a slideshow or work independently to create a presentation. It would be helpful for me to use Go Guardian while students are working on these projects so that I can easily see what they are completing, make sure they are on track, and give them feedback as to how they can improve their projects. This will allow students to be more engaged in their learning because they know that I am aware of what they are doing online.

Megan Weber- GoGuardian 1

I can integrate GoGuardian's features into my teaching practice to enhance the ability to create a more engaging and productive online learning environment for students by being able to monitor what each student/group is doing on their screen. This allows the teacher to make sure the student is doing the task and being appropriate. Here in physical education I can use technology to motivate students to move by allowing them to copy movements off of a video, use of relaxation techniques at the end of class, or a follow along to a google classroom I have created. Here I can visually see what is on their screen and what each student is doing physically in the gym.

GoGuardian would allow me to monitor student's progress and productivity by showing me who is on task or on the appropriate site at a given time, as well as check their history. This is something I found very useful as a remote teacher using a similar program.

Marcie Moore Go Guardian

Go Guardian is a tool for teachers to see what their students are viewing on their individual Chromebooks in the classroom. Teachers can import their classes into Go Guardian in a variety of ways. Once set up in Go Guardian, teachers can see what their students are doing during classtime. Teahcers can also close a tab if a student is on a site that the teacher would not like them to be on at that particular time.Teachers can also view a timeline and see where students have been visiting throughout a set time period. Teahers can also set up helpers in Go Guardian. Helpers can view where students are but cannot close tabs.

I can see how this would be very helpful for upper elementary, middle and high school teachers. As a primary teacher, I think Go Guardian would be most helpful as a tool to make sure my students are in the right place. We don't use screens a lot at all in my classroom. As a result, when we do, stuudents are not used to navigating and logging in correctly. Go Guardian could help me see that all my students are in the correct place. However, in kindergarten, it's boots on the ground and I will be certainly be moving among my students to help them and show them where to go and how to get there.

I think that the best way to use goguardian is in an active classroom. I combination of teaching visits and computer oversight will help to keep students more engaged and on task with the online activities that they are supposed to be doing. Gone are the days of just switching tabs as the teacher comes around to your desk. I love it!

GoGuardian Level 1

This is a great tool to monitor students' activity on their Chromebooks in realtime. I often work with children 1:1 or in small groups but at times I give them tasks to work on individually and feel better knowing that I can monitor what they are doing while giving them independence.
