Item Analysis Report

This report will give the teacher an idea of what the students really understand and what they struggled on.  It gives you an idea of things that need to be re-taught.  It also allows techers to come together and look and what each taught well, and how that made a difference in their class.

How Item Analysis Can Drive Instruction

By looking over each item with a test, I can see the percentage of students who chose each option for each questions.  I can then identify misconceptions that may be evident by the students' wrong answer choices.   I can also use this information to determine areas of greater understanding as well as areas that need to be retaught based on the student responses.  Finally, I can provide the students with this information and have them look over their own choices individually and as a group to look for common errors or misunderstandings.  By doing this, I am allowing the students to metacognate, which is an important component in developing life-long learners.

Item Analysis can be used for reteaching purposes.  By examining specific questions student missed at a high rate a teacher can go back and address student's misconceptions.  Additionally, when analyzing common assessments if one teacher performed higher in a specific area relative to other teachers, that teacher could share what they did for the first time instruction in hope of improving student learning across the board.

Use data to drive magical instructions

Go to report builder to get scores quickly
But to go through the test at the item level go to standards based report
Pick school and criteria
"view report" link
then look at strand summary, item analysis, etc.
Show the amazing pie chart!!!
Much data good
No but seriously there is so much granulated information it would be almost impossible to not let it influence instruction.

Item Analysis Report

The standards based reports give the teacher the ability to see where the specific weakness or strengths of their students may be. With this information a teacher can focus on specific lesson plan to improve all students areas of weaknesses and also understand where the teachers strengths may lie in their teaching practices. The information also helps the teacher to determine the differing levels of their students, understanding which students may need more practice in an area or which students are ready to perform at a higher level. The teacher can also check with the students to see if the lesson or question was not understood by the class because of differing vocabulary terms.

Item Analysis Reports

Item analysis reports are extremely useful in driving teacher instruction. Teachers can use the reports in order to determine his/her student’s weaknesses based on the results of the assessments given, looking at specific standard strands and individual test questions. Teachers can then tailor their instruction and create assignments that address whole class issues as well as individualized needs of the students.

Item Analysis report - summary

The Analysis report tool allows an in-depth view of the student outcomes in order to drive better teaching and instruction.  This will help target growth area needs and address the specific gaps in understanding.  This takes the guesswork out of the review of the curriculum.  This all is imitated feedback and useful in helping teachers create homogeneous student groups to review in an effective manner.  Heterogeneous groups could also be designed from the data to place student tutors in the particular groups to help advance the lesson.

Item Analysis Reports

There are many ways these detailed reports can be used to drive instruction. There are several types of reports you can choose based on the level of information you want to analyze. You can have a standards, strand summary or item level report- all are there to pick from as desired. This allows you to be very specific in targeting how you can help your students either individually or as a group. Knowing it covers multiple standards, its good information to have to re-teach skills needed or set a level of instruction based on understanding. Personally- I would use these reports to set goals as a class as well as with individuals to strive for a higher level of mastery. From there a targeted intense focus on missing skills would set the instruction. It gives you a clear picture of content completed, and content needed.

I can use standards-based reports to drive my instruction.

I can analyze standards-based reports to drive my instruction by looking at which standards my kids are struggling in, and then focusing my lessons directly on strengthening their weaknesses. I can analyze the test results by strand summary or item analysis to show me more specifically how my students are doing. If all my students missed a certain question, I can see if it was asked in a way my students didn't understand, or if there was certain terminology that threw them off. I can focus on students who need remediation of certain standards or students who demonstrate proficiency and are ready to be further challenged. I can view this information quickly and then create small groups in which to focus specific standards-based instruction.

Item Analysis Report

This type of report allows me to use the results of the assessment to plan for future lessons.  It guides my focus on students who need remediation of the tested skills or students who demonstrate proficiency and are ready to be further challenged.  I would use the data to create flexible groups to address needed invention or advanced standard instruction.

Standard Based Reports allow you to look at standards, strands, or items to see trends or individual students needing extra support.

Driving my instructions benefit my students

This type of report allows me to drive their instruction based on the results of the assessment.  I would be able to look at various strands, items and possibility a certain test number that my students did poorly on during the assessment.  This will allow me to involve students to appropriate learning activities; guiding students to appropriate knowledge based on their misunderstanding of a particular standard.
