By looking over each item with a test, I can see the percentage of students who chose each option for each questions. I can then identify misconceptions that may be evident by the students' wrong answer choices. I can also use this information to determine areas of greater understanding as well as areas that need to be retaught based on the student responses. Finally, I can provide the students with this information and have them look over their own choices individually and as a group to look for common errors or misunderstandings. By doing this, I am allowing the students to metacognate, which is an important component in developing life-long learners.
