Analysis
Reports can be used to drive instruction in the following ways:
*You can generate a report which identifies key standards that students struggled with most. This will help when you design re-teaching opportunities. Differentiation becomes more meaningful and target-directed.
*These standard based reporting systems also allow to plan the best entry point to the next unit of instruction. If you see that students are strongest on a specific perspective or idea, perhaps you could design a lesson which builds on that approach to connect and learn the next set of ideas.
*Finally, this reporting should be used to guide and direct the quality of “learning practice” in your classroom. If you experiment with different teaching and learning strategies by standard – you might have some insight as to the impact of best “learning practices.” For instance, you could ask, “which of the strategies tied to these unique set of standards seemed to create a higher success in students during this unit?”
