This is relevant to my future classroom because younger children have a hard time understanding the concept of plagiarism. I tried to keep it simple und use words that are easier for young students to understand. As for making the graphic, I really enjoyed using Canva. It had a lot of options for layout for the poster and it was super easy to use overall. It is definitely an appt that I could even have students use in the future.

Using Procreate

I liked using this app because it has so many different features. It has taken me a couple of projects to really figure out how to work it but it’s a fantastic app for drawing and creating. I think it was a good app to use for creating the plagiarism graphic. I’ll use this app in my future classrooms to make anchor charts, posters, and graphics. Plagiarism is an important thing to address in a classroom because it is such a serious academic offense. I want to make sure I educate my students on how to prevent plagiarizing and how to properly cite their sources. I thought creating a graphic was good because it is something you could hang up in the classroom and let students reference whenever they need it.

Plagiarizing can be a difficult subject to talk about when it comes to art. Many children like to draw their favorite characters or follow someone’s specific art style. And even though they are not blatantly copying other artists, they need to be informed on what Plagiarism actually is. I want them to be inspired by other art styles, or inspired by another painting or drawing, but not straight up copy. If they learn about Plagiarism in writing, they should learn it is just as important in art.

I liked this assignment. It gave me exposure to a side of the internet that I am not familiar with.

For this assignment I decided to choose a meme because I believe this will best relate to the students of modern day classrooms. So long are the classes filled with the wooden stove in the center of the room for heat. Now we have moved into an age of technology where students care only for something clever, or can make them laugh. I would use this often to help relate to my students when I can succinctly summarize a short lesson into a 10 word meme.

Process

To make this graphic, I brainstormed a list of tips to put on a graphic and wrote them down. On Canva, I opened a template and chose a color palate and added text. I inserted icons in blank spots. I exported the document as a PDF and cropped it in preview.

I believe this is relevant because technology is only going to grow as we get older. It is important to be able to use technology and to relate it to your audience or classroom. By using a meme generator I believe it was beneficial because it's relevant to me and people my age and younger, therefore could be relevant in the classroom. If something is funny and relatable, students are more than likely to pay more attention to it. I could use this app and have my students make their own memes about classroom rules.

Revelant to future classroom

The explain everything app would be very helpful to use in the classroom. The teacher can use apple mirroring and draw notes on the app to engage students in their learning.  Children can also use this app in the classroom to draw or write what they are learning. The teacher can monitor and guide students through several topics of discussion and have the students take notes as the conversation progresses. Using the app for a project or an exit slip encourages students to integrate technology in the classroom.

I am planning on starting in the Elementary Education world, so plagiarism won't be a large problem I don't think. However, it is never too early to start the conversation. Even if it is just slipping it in when the students are doing work from a textbook by saying "you can't copy word for word, that is called plagiarism" or something like that. I plan on also teaching High School math further down the line, so again I don't anticipate having many plagiarism issues.

As a future English teacher, this bears a lot of significance for my career in the future. There will be times that I have to educate students on what plagiarism is and why it is wrong so this practice will be good for that. I will also have to know what i am looking for as a grader.

Like I said in the app usage, I really enjoyed using this app.   I felt that it was very user friendly and that I was able to use it quickly and efficiently.  This would be a great tool to use in the classroom.   It gives many different templates and graphics that are student friendly.  Students could have a creative project where they got to make their own posters or flyers.  They could even make posters for the classroom that could be hung up around the classroom.

This is relevant to my future classroom because it provides an example of a simple way to make learning more engaging and fun for students. Whether I am giving a presentation or having them create their own, it is important that students know how to properly cite sources, while still giving them creative freedom.

I really liked using Canva to create my graphic on plagiarism. It is very user friendly and had tons of layouts and backgrounds to choose from. I could use this app for all kinds of things in a classroom setting. This would also be wonderful to use for a newsletter. I thought about using Prezi, but I'm not a huge fan of it. I believe that plagiarism is wrong and that students need to make an effort to come up with original work that is their own. This graphic is fun and is familiar (arm and hammer) and I think students would find it comical, but also get the message and be able to relate to it.
