Art Theft

In classrooms, and in the art world in general, art theft and Fair Use are huge concerns and topics of discussion. In my own High School and even College art classes we run into this a lot. Students may unintentionally be violating laws.

A useful reminder, but not very valuable as a learning tool on its own.

Plagiarism is definitely an issue that must be addressed, particularly for a generation that is being raised on the internet. With greater access to more resources and other people's work, it is essential that we teach the ethics of copyright and plagiarism to our students. A simple graphic, however, is not enough to remind students of the seriousness of plagiarism, regardless of how detailed or how well it grabs the viewer's attention. While I definitely see myself integrating a lesson on plagiarism in my future classroom, and I will most likely have a similar graphic such as this in my classroom, the graphic on its own is not enough. I do appreciate the opportunity to focus on such an important issue in the digital age, and I hope my future students will appreciate the time spent understanding the dangers of plagiarism.

This is less relevant to my future classroom than many other badges.

While understanding plagiarism is integral to student success, I'm not sure that I'd want to approach they're understanding through these created models. I think it could be approached with a more serious notion. However, infographics such as these could be nice reminders posted about the classroom.

As a future Social Studies teacher, my students will be writing papers and creating projects. A lot of their work will come from other sources that need to be cited. In order to keep my students from failing, being expelled for academic dishonesty, or worse, I will need them to know and understand what constitutes plagiarism and what is does not. While the graphic I created doesn't cover every single instance of plagiarism, it is a good reminder about what should be cited and what is considered original work.

This was actually much harder than I thought, but very eyeopening and informative. I learned that everything, no matter where it came from, must be cited if it is not your own original idea, writing, or creation. This is something I want to emphasize early on in my classroom so my students feel confident in their own-true- work.

This is relevant because no matter what age I teach in, if they are creating something they will need to know about plagiarism. It is also god to practice making things for my future classroom. I can make things, like posters, instead of buying them. Saving money!

Unique Graphics for the Classroom

I really like the idea of creating my own unique posters online for my classroom -- putting up timelines, maps, and quotes. These type of documents can be printed to post in the classroom or used in a digital space that I share with my students. I like how flexible and easy to use graphic tools like Adobe Spark and Canva are for creating unique designs. I look forward to creating posters and informational handouts for my students.

This particular badge is extremely relevant to my future classroom because plagiarism is a very serious topic that needs to be addressed even with children.  This graphic is something I could show my students and we could talk through and clear up any confusion on the topic of plagiarizing.  I think it would be beneficial to then create a new graphic with my students so that I can let them put it into their own words to ensure their understanding; then we could print it out and hang it up somewhere in the classroom.

I think that it was beneficial to create this poster because it is important to know how to create something without plagiarizing. We are preaching to our students to be careful, but we must also be. I enjoyed creating this and would hang it in my classroom. Along with it I would add something that had specific tips/recommendations. I would use this poster as a general reminder for my students.

Plagiarism is an extremely important concept for students to understand. Students need to practice good writing techniques, and they should always use their own words. Also, I found this assignment fun because I like to use memes in my lessons.

This app could be relevant in the classroom because it is so easy to use. Students would love this app because of that reason. There are so many designs that could match the interests of each student in the class. I could use this in the classroom in so many ways. One way I could use this is by making flyers to send home to the families about different events happening in the classroom and school. I actually was able to use this app for the same reason in one of my other classes. This app is a great resource for both students and teachers!

It is important that students understand what plagarism is. Often people make mistakes thinking they don’t have to cite simple pictures, but that can cause huge problems if someone were to find out. If students learn about this at an early age, it will be a habit to cite their sources.
