I had never known about several of the features that you detailed in this video. I did not know it was possible to email from within the drive and I did not know the quick hack to sort using emoji to make things show up first, overriding the pesky alphabet system. Hey! I also learned how to expand the size of the left margin by dragging it over to show more of the file names and details! Thanks! 😏

There are many awesome features in Google Drive.  The ability to add color and emojis on file folders is fun, but it can be an effective tool in creating organization.  Folders and subfolders can quickly become overwhelming.  The second feature that is powerful is the ability to share files, folders, etc. easily and receive files from someone else.   I never knew that when a folder is shared that a person appears on the folder to indicate “shared”!   Organizing the files at the time of creation is a real time saver.  I can’t believe I never saw that tiny little folder next to the document name!

Kerra Mazzariello ~ Favorite Drive Feature(s)

I really enjoy using Drive because it makes administrative work life easier, giving us more time to dedicate to our real jobs! Its ease of use is great and I love being able to create folders, subfolders, and color code as necessary. I also had a lot of fun adding Emojis to my folders to personalize my Drive account even more.

I love the fact that you can color coordinate the folders to make searching much faster and easier.

My favorite feature of drive is the sharing feature. In Biology, we use this sharing function all of the time. We even have a shared Biology folder where we all can put documents and share resources/ ideas. Another feature I appreciate is colors for the folders in google drive. This helps me because I put a color to the folder that I am using during the current school year and then I color sub folders for units.

My all time favorite feature in Google Drive is the ability to search for the documents you need if you don’t have the extra time to dig through folders. I also love how easy it is to organize your files into folders which you can color code and add emojis for it to stand out.

My favorite feature of Drive is the ability to quickly share any file or folder with anyone.  Our department often collaborates on different projects between teachers but also include teachers from outside of our department.  Drive has enabled us to quickly work through an idea while sharing it with the necessary collaborators.  Being able to assign tasks or specific areas of text has been very powerful.  Just by adding a comment, you notify someone that their attention is needed and exactly where you're hoping for their input.

Lukas Gill - Google Workspace: Drive 1

I think that my favorite feature of Drive is being able to search for files. I often don't remember which folder I placed something...or even what I might have named it...but Drive allows me to find files easily with a search bar. This saves time and frustration! Additionally, the ease of which files/folders can be shared for collaboration is incredible. I can easily collaborate with colleagues on documents in shared drives, making our productivity increase.

Google Drive is a great tool to help keep teachers organized and have digital copies of their work. Using colors and emojis is a fun way to help keep track of where you want files to go. Adding a shortcut of shared resources is very helpful when you are collaborating with your department or using a universal template for something. Shared folders is something that my department utilizes for many different projects.

I love how I am able to share documents and folders with others on Google Drive! This sharing ability has been crucial for collaboration and communication between my co-teacher and me. I had my Google Drive organized in folders before this lesson, but I had not previously considered using emojis in names and never knew I could make them different colors! This is going to be great for organizing and recognizing where I want to go more quickly. Lately, I have been making shortcuts for different documents in my Drive and in Shared Drives, as I need to have them saved in multiple places and want everywhere it's saved to be up-to-date as soon as I make any changes. This is much more efficient than having multiple copies of the same document. I also have been making converting all of my homework assignments from PDFs to Google Docs - my students are able to edit the documents and submit assignments more easily this way.

I love organizing my files with folders. When I get a page where I have to scroll through my files I know it is time to create new folders. I like naming them with numbers so they are in the order I want them to be in. I like adding colors and emojis too. I also like using the organization option to move files where they belong. Also, using Google Docs is key! I have been slowly converting all my documents to Google Docs from Word. This is important for sharing documents to students in Google Classroom. I really like the setting to force all documents to automatically upload as Google Docs.
