Another great refresher on the uses of different assignments on google classroom.  I found it very useful to put my assignments into weeks for what was due weekly, and put materials to go back to under subjects.  Using the quizzes along with importing grades was very helpful.  I used the feedback option all the time.  This allowed me to show students immediate feedback and have a record of what we spoke about.  The gradebook also gave me a clear images of what students were missing and patterns that would emerge.

In Math it is a little hard to make online interaction fully online. With the google classroom I plan on attaching all the notes from the classes to make sure students have access to them. If students can't read their own handwriting, they can access my notes. If they want to print out my notes to study from, they will be able to do that.

The actual assignments posted will be very limited. In math we have a weekly homework assignment. Students have a week to get it done. So one assignment will scheduled to remind them of when their weekly is due. I also put quizzes and tests in as an assignment to remind students that a quiz or test is upcoming. Students are not required to turn in these assignments because the actual assignments are on paper.

If a student is sick and wants to complete a weekly online, they have the ability to do that because I put everything (except quizzes and tests) in the google classroom for students to have access to them.

Excellent tutorial for managing assignments, tasks, and grading in google classroom

Thanks for putting this together!  I noticed Google has a NEW FUNCTION that teachers WILL LOVE.
You can EMBED QUESTIONS into VIDEOS at various time stamps!!!---- using the ASSIGNMENTS function in google classroom!
This means, teachers can "check for understanding" throughout the video--making it a more interactive experience.

Reflection for Google Classroom 2

I organized my Google Classroom by adding a topic heading.  I created different assignments including materials, assignments, questions, and a quiz.  I included a title, instructions, and added attachments where needed.  The one thing I do not do often is include feedback.  I usually add a comment.  I will try that this week and add feedback with my Bitmoji.  Under the People page, I did not know that you can click on a student's name and use the drop-down menu, to check if they have turned all their homework in, if I returned their work, or look to see what is missing.  This will be a game-changer for me.

I have used Google Classroom for many years, but I have never used the ask or quiz portion of Google Classroom. I really like the ask feature because I can look at all of my students' responses at a glance. I also like that I can allow my students to look at how other students are responding. This has strengthened their responses and allowed my students to add to what others are thinking. I also didn't realize that there was a grade tab or that you could click on a student's name and see their assignments at a glance. This will help with managing assignments. I can't wait to use this feature.

I tend not to use the comments section, but this badge tutorial reminded me about it. I think it's really engaging to students. I also like having the students comment on one another's statements. Students get a chance to think about a topic, read others' ideas, and then consider how they feel about their classmates' opinions. Love this option!

I love the structure and organization of Google Classroom. I find it very helpful, for myself and for my students, to use the visual icons/emojis in topics to help find them easier. I also find it very helpful to see who has completed assignments and who is "missing". Students love the digital feedback and to be able to correspond with me! This course taught me how to use "grades" more efficiently-I didn't know that it could show an actual grade book. I plan to use this feature more now that I am familiar with it.

This will help improve my ability to help students with their organization both during units and for review. Having the ability to split up units into topics and then posting any material we go over under those. This will help students be able to go back and know exactly where to find any material. This is also great for the students who have to miss school or are frequently absent they can at least stay somewhat up to date on things we do in class. Putting due dates and time are especially important for those students are absent as well.

Students need consistency and routine both in the physical classroom and the online classroom. Knowing how to organize assignments and to make it easy for the students to find what they need in Google Classroom has proven to be very important. That can even reduce time spent in class explaining upcoming assignments.

This will help me support student's learning by providing them with digital resources. I am planning to add Dreambox to this section so students can practice their math skills and technology skills with games. I will be able to see which students are struggling with a math topic and then go to them to give immediate feedback.

The google classroom through the stream and classwork pages provide structure and organization that students need. It is an organized system that allows students to easily find and manage their notes/assignments/etc...

In my new AIS Math position, I can utilize Google Classroom to post material to help support my students' learning. I can post videos such as BrainPop, Mathantics, and Khan Academy and have the students comment on what they have learned. I have also assigned math fluency work on apps such as MathFactLab and Xtramath. In class for my 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, we always start with a past NYS exam question. I plan on utilizing Google Classroom as an online format to post some of these questions in class, so they get used to taking the test on a computer.
