How will your knowledge of Google Classroom assignments improve your ability to support students' learning, particularly in terms of assignment setup, online interaction, and overall classroom management?

Google classroom will help improve  my ability to support students in many ways.  It allows me to easily help keep students organized. This is especially helpful for certain students that struggle with this. I know I was definitely one of those kids. You can easily organize materials, quizzes, tests, videos, worksheets, as well as list due dates, reminders, and general statements. It is also a great way to streamline the use of other digital software by easily linking sites.

Google Classroom has a couple of benefits we have learned about:
  • Emojis are a simple technique that allows you to quickly show students what part/ type of content you are posting.  This can help the kids stay more organized.
  • I use often the "make a copy for each student" for my labs.  Even when I "hand out" completely blank google sheets for students to graph/ organize data.  It lets me/ the students stay more organized and less of a chance students run into problems like losing the assignment.
  • I have never tried both the online quiz or question.  I like the idea that questions can have student interact and discuss with each other which is always a good way for students to learn.

Classroom Organization

Knowing how to organize and easily use emojis will help students and families navigate the classroom with ease.  I think this will also allow better communication in and out of the classroom.

Reflection for Google Classroom 2

This served as a great refresher for my use of Google Classroom. I really liked the quiz portion, as I was unaware of this tool that could be used through Google Classroom. I also liked the locked mode feature so if my students were taking a quiz through the Google Classroom, they couldn't open up other tabs to look up answers.  I have forgotten about the question feature. I used to use this feature quite a bit, especially during COVID. I think I'll start using this feature again as my students had a great deal of fun with this.

This again was a great refresher of all of the options google class has from posting notes, assignments, materials , and creating quizzes.  The grading aspect of grading quizzes may intrigue me me as I move next year into more exit tickets.

The commodity that I will definitely use moving forward is the reuse of posts. Each year I basically use the same notes, materials and homework's.  This will save me time uploading and spending time finding files.

Another great refresher on the uses of different assignments on google classroom.  I found it very useful to put my assignments into weeks for what was due weekly, and put materials to go back to under subjects.  Using the quizzes along with importing grades was very helpful.  I used the feedback option all the time.  This allowed me to show students immediate feedback and have a record of what we spoke about.  The gradebook also gave me a clear images of what students were missing and patterns that would emerge.

In Math it is a little hard to make online interaction fully online. With the google classroom I plan on attaching all the notes from the classes to make sure students have access to them. If students can't read their own handwriting, they can access my notes. If they want to print out my notes to study from, they will be able to do that.

The actual assignments posted will be very limited. In math we have a weekly homework assignment. Students have a week to get it done. So one assignment will scheduled to remind them of when their weekly is due. I also put quizzes and tests in as an assignment to remind students that a quiz or test is upcoming. Students are not required to turn in these assignments because the actual assignments are on paper.

If a student is sick and wants to complete a weekly online, they have the ability to do that because I put everything (except quizzes and tests) in the google classroom for students to have access to them.

Excellent tutorial for managing assignments, tasks, and grading in google classroom

Thanks for putting this together!  I noticed Google has a NEW FUNCTION that teachers WILL LOVE.
You can EMBED QUESTIONS into VIDEOS at various time stamps!!!---- using the ASSIGNMENTS function in google classroom!
This means, teachers can "check for understanding" throughout the video--making it a more interactive experience.

Reflection for Google Classroom 2

I organized my Google Classroom by adding a topic heading.  I created different assignments including materials, assignments, questions, and a quiz.  I included a title, instructions, and added attachments where needed.  The one thing I do not do often is include feedback.  I usually add a comment.  I will try that this week and add feedback with my Bitmoji.  Under the People page, I did not know that you can click on a student's name and use the drop-down menu, to check if they have turned all their homework in, if I returned their work, or look to see what is missing.  This will be a game-changer for me.

I have used Google Classroom for many years, but I have never used the ask or quiz portion of Google Classroom. I really like the ask feature because I can look at all of my students' responses at a glance. I also like that I can allow my students to look at how other students are responding. This has strengthened their responses and allowed my students to add to what others are thinking. I also didn't realize that there was a grade tab or that you could click on a student's name and see their assignments at a glance. This will help with managing assignments. I can't wait to use this feature.

I tend not to use the comments section, but this badge tutorial reminded me about it. I think it's really engaging to students. I also like having the students comment on one another's statements. Students get a chance to think about a topic, read others' ideas, and then consider how they feel about their classmates' opinions. Love this option!

I love the structure and organization of Google Classroom. I find it very helpful, for myself and for my students, to use the visual icons/emojis in topics to help find them easier. I also find it very helpful to see who has completed assignments and who is "missing". Students love the digital feedback and to be able to correspond with me! This course taught me how to use "grades" more efficiently-I didn't know that it could show an actual grade book. I plan to use this feature more now that I am familiar with it.
