This is relevant to my future classroom because I learned tools I can use as a teacher. I can help students to understand how media footprints can effect peoples lives. I can use this to help students realize the difference between fake and real news. This workshop gave me knowledge on how to encourage positive media for my students.

The webinar was really eye-opening and useful. I enjoy the online webinars because you can attend in the comfort and convenience of a location of your choice. The information discussed was helpful, because as teachers we can forget that students are very impressionable. What they see in the news can impact how they view the world and the problems that exist. I will definitely use the website Solutions U to help inform students on social issues that help explain them in a factual, optimistic way.

Reflection on Webinar

This webinar made me rethink my stance on flipgrid, because it's not my favorite tool by any means. However, I think this video made some good points about how an app like flipgrid can help students to take ownership of their learning. One of my professors said that the highest level of learning is being able to teach on a topic, and I think that the videos students create when they explain their thoughts and ideas via flipgrid tap into that. I think I could use this to help students grapple with complex concepts or even to voice opinions that may differ in between students so that everyone's thoughts can be heard. This also creates an opportunity to provide thoughtful and individual feedback to each student when needed.

This webinar was really eye-opening. It relates a lot to my Diverse Learners course that I am taking this semester. We talk about the many biases that we face in our world, and how our future students are no exceptions. Their biases form from a young age based on the people they are around, and the environment they grow up in. We as teachers can work hard to break down those walls through lesson plans, and real-life experiences but we, ourselves, need to confront any biases that we may have, and often times, we do not even notice that we have them.

Flipgrid

I really enjoyed getting to explore flip grid. I learned that you can search for topics made by other teachers/grid creators and see what they created or just view any topic by looking at flip grid discovery. This would be a really good way to figure out how to get your students involved and show real evidence of knowledge by learning how other teachers do it with that exact lesson. Im also glad I know how to create a grid know, i would like to use these in my future classroom.

I have to admit I did not think this would be relevant to me as a future teacher since I am early childhood. However, as I continued watching the webinar I realized I was wrong. There were so many activities he showed us that I knew I would be able to use in my own classroom because they had good directions with them. I also really like this scratch app because it is very kid friendly and a lot of the projects that you can work with are animated cartoons and I know children would find them very fun. I never really thought about using coding in my future classroom but now seeing an app like this really showed me that goal is more attainable than I thought. I think webinars like this are great because they open your eyes to things you may have never thought you could do in your classroom.

This lessons are both applicable to a science classroom.

First, I will be able to use some of the materials provided in my classroom. For instance, they provided great quality nasa images and educational posters, as well as fun worksheets. However, the lessons themselves can be adapted to any class, so I may use the lessons they instructed as well. Using nearpod is a great idea, since I can watch to make sure students are staying on task and not leaving the app. Also, having students collaborate in a fun, competitive but not threatening way, is a great method of learning to institute.

Participating in webinars like this keep me involved as an active learner. In this case, I learned a lot about connecting Ss with the world.

I think that participating in workshops and webinars is a great way to get professional development. It is a lot of learning jam-packed into a short 1-3 hour crash course that can be directly applied to my future classrooms. Not only did this particular webinar teach me a lot about connecting my students with the outside world, but it also gave me even more resources to reach out and learn. I think that the main purpose of all of the easy-access PD is that it is teaching me to reach out for help where it is offered. There is more support and PD available to me than I could ever take advantage of, but that just reassures me that there will always be help available when I seek improvement.

This information stuck out to me because of the time we live in now with all of the media influence. This is important for future teachers like me because it is something we have to be aware of, and it is something we have to make our students aware of. That way students become informed citizens and vote with accurate information. I will look at the information I encounter more closely, and be more skeptical of the things I read and see on the internet.

Reflection:

This is relevant to my future classroom because it expresses the value and importance of teaching certain things in your classroom like the story of Anne Frank and the patterns of identity struggles and discrimination that she endured. Many people may believe that since this happened so long ago, it is not relevant anymore but in reality, the patterns are the same in today's society and it is important to do what we can to counteract them. I plan on teaching kindergarten, so teaching my students about Anne Frank's life specifically will not be appropriate, but using the ideas from this webinar could hold me accountable in supporting my students and making sure they are in a safe and loving environment.

This is relevant to my future classroom because this webinar talked about how to incorporate Flidgrid into lessons. It gave examples of lessons to be used in a Kindergarten and First Grade classroom, which is what I will be teaching. I will be able to use this type of lesson to integrate technology into my classroom. I learned that Flipgrid is a great tool to use with my students as a fun way to learn and share their ideas and what they learned from the lesson.
