Reflection

This is relevant to my future classroom because it discussed the fact that students might be dealing with things not related to academia but still able to influence how they do in their classes. It is important to realize this and know that there are multiple things to be considered in student performance. This particular one dealt with student hunger and gave practical ways that we, as teachers, can help with this.

Very informative and helpful

I really enjoyed this workshop. Melanie Adams works in the Career Services office at OU and she really knows a lot about building resumes and what future employers look for when hiring. I learned many valuable skills that will help me when I apply and interview for jobs.

Reflection

This seems like something very important for my future classroom. I want to go overseas and teach in international schools, and so global citizenship in terms of cross-cultural communication is very important for my students. I definitely want to utilize a program like this in my future classroom, and I think my students will learn a great deal.

Reflection

This was very helpful for my future as a teacher. I am most nervous about classroom management, so watching this gave me a lot of tips on what to do in a situation where children are engaging in disruptive behavior. Knowing how important it is to understand children's behaviors and the reasons behind them is a great way to take back your classroom management. The tips presented in this webinar will be very helpful in my student teaching and my own future classroom.

I found the webinar very useful as in my country, Colombia, i may face an elementary classrooms that do not have much technology. So using the storytelling books about technology, students could learn important information about technology, at the same time they will be practicing reading and it would be a fun way to approach technology without actually having tech tools

Teaching technology is entirely relevant to my future teaching because that is where education as a whole is headed. Helping children understand the why's and how's of technology is extremely important, for they must comprehend why they are doing what they are doing. However, as mentioned before, these storybooks are wildly gender slanted and that is something that I want to discuss with my class in order to change a societal mentality.

Reflection

I found this webinar very interesting and helpful for how to make sure that I am an ally in my future classroom. I learned all about different strategies that will help me to be a better ally, as well as what I need to do to start looking at my own identity so that I can be the best possible ally for my students. I made an identity web during this webinar. I was surprised to see that I did not add white to my identity web... I didn't add it because I didn't really consider that a part of who I am. That just shows the privilege that I have without even realizing it.

This is relevant to my future classroom because even if I do not have a one-to-one classroom, being able to project other flipgrids to the class about topics we are learning about will still be a great way to give them information. I think doing that will show them ways other students are learning about the same topic all around the world. If I do have a one-to-one classroom, then I can incorporate flip grids into my lessons so I will know if all of my students are understanding the lesson. By getting instantaneous responses from my students, I will know quickly if I need to reteach or move on, or if I need to trigger one students individually.

Reflection of Teaching about technology with storybooks

This is relevant to my future classroom because it exposed me to plenty of books I can use in my classroom for any subject. I like how there is a variety of different genres of books to choose from. These genres include everywhere from technology to bullying in the classroom. I will use this seminar in my classroom to make sure that all my students are aware of the effects of bullying. I will also make sure that my female students are exposed to computers, technology and coding.

What I Learned from this Webinar that will make me a Better Teacher

While mostly geared towards elementary education, this webinar still had many aspects that will help secondary English education teachers like myself. For example, Dr. Cullen discussed many ways to get funding for books or even free/cheap books that I had not known about before; some of these ways included: grants, librarians/libraries, book festivals, Donor’s Choose, garage sales, and even retiring teachers. These methods of gathering books will help me create a classroom library and are easily accessible. Another thing that Dr. Cullen discussed was putting QR codes/links in the backs of books to provide resources for students; this is a great way to connect digital citizenship to some of the young adult novels that I’d like to have in my class and it would be very easy to do this for my students. Overall, the webinar was more helpful for elementary education majors, however, I think that there was a ton of useful information that is universally helpful among educators.

This workshop directly relates to me because I could use IMovie in multiple ways in my future classroom. I could have my students create projects using the app, or projects myself. More specifically kids could create book summary movies, and I could create informative videos for parents.

Reflection

It has some relevance, like I mentioned earlier, space and NASA go hand and hand with a variety of subjects with social studies. Knowing this I will be able to make connections with the interest that natural comes with discussion of space and relate it to what ever discipline of social studies I am in at the time. It was a  a good reminder that you can work together with your fellow teachers and that what we do is more connected than we like to think at times.
