Chosen ISTE Standard

1. Learner

Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve student learning. Educators:

1a) Set professional learning goals to explore and apply pedagogical approaches made possible by technology and reflect on their effectiveness.
1b) Pursue professional interests by creating and actively participating in local and global learning networks.
1c) Stay current with research that supports improved student learning outcomes, including findings from the learning sciences.

ISTE Standard #5

5. Designer

Educators design authentic, learner-driven activities and environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability.

Educators:
a. Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.

b. Design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use digital tools and resources to maximize active, deep learning.

c. Explore and apply instructional design principles to create innovative digital learning environments that engage and support learning.

I think the Designer ISTE Standard aligns most with the Apple Teacher badges because teachers are able to use all the different platforms on the iPad (Keynote, Numbers, iMovie, Garage Band, Notes, and Pages) to create new and
innovative interactions for the content being presented in class to get students better engaged and more interested. It also gives students and teachers an opportunity to create something that resonates with them and helps them understand the curriculum in a way that makes most sense.

Collaborator

Educators dedicate time to collaborate with both colleagues and students to improve practice, discover and share resources and ideas, and solve problems.

a. Dedicate planning time to collaborate with colleagues to create authentic learning experiences that leverage technology.

b. Collaborate and co-learn with students to discover and use new digital resources and diagnose and troubleshoot technology issues.

I think these two standards fit with the apple teacher badges. Now that I am apple certified I can help my peers and students with the apps as well.

ISTE standards for educators

Facilitator:
Educators facilitate learning with technology to support student achievement of the ISTE Standards for Students. Educators
6a) Foster a culture where students take ownership of their learning goals and outcomes in both independent and group settings.
6b) Manage the use of technology and student learning strategies in digital platforms, virtual environments, hands-on maker spaces, or in the field.
6c) Create learning opportunities that challenge students to use a design process and computational thinking to innovate and solve problems.
6d) Model and nurture creativity and creative expression to communicate ideas, knowledge, or connections.

I think this ISTE educator standard fits most with this certification because we are literally using technology to create new opportunities for our students to succeed. As future educators, knowing and understanding what available resources we have at our fingertips will offer us a more inclusive classroom later on, accommodating to all types of learners.

The ISTE standard that best fits is the Designer standard.

5. Designer

Educators design authentic, learner-driven activities and environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability. Educators:
a. Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.
b. Design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use digital tools and resources to maximize active, deep learning.
c. Explore and apply instructional design principles to create innovative digital learning environments that engage and support learning

This standard best fits the tools provided by Apple on the iPad because teachers can implement these tools to create a curriculum that caters to all learners. The tools help create room for individuality and creativity through technology, while still targeting important lessons students must learn. The tools can help foster critical thinking and inspire deeper understanding of the curriculum.

ISTE Standards

5 Designer:
Educators design authentic, learner-driven activities and environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability. Educators:

  • 5a Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs.
  • 5b Design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use digital tools and resources to maximize active, deep learning.
I think these two ISTE standards best apply to the Apple teacher badges because those apps are all about creating something that shows our thoughts or experiment results. As teachers we have to be creative, especially with the younger students, to keep them engaged in what we're teaching. One part of being creative is designing new things, be it slides, lessons, or an interactive activity. These badges help me, as a teacher, learn how to use the apps so I can help my students use them in class for projects if we have the technology to do so.
