Reflection

The first obvious reason this Apple teacher certification is relevant is because technology is growing and expanding consistently in both the classroom and the world around us, It is up to educators to play a part in helping students become integrated into the technological world.This being the case, teachers must be updated and educated on the latest technology that has any place in a classroom. Schools that have access to iPads (or any technology similar to this) can have classrooms use this technology and the iPad apps (from the badges) specifically for assignments, projects, individual and group work, and for homework if the technology is available at home. The biggest issue is mainly just having access to the technology, whether it be at home or at the schools themselves. 

The continuing rise of technology means that humans, and therefore educators, students and schools in general, must adapt to the times. Paper and pencil isn’t always gong to be the answer anymore. These are just 6 apps that educators can use to enhance student learning. It falls right in line with standard 4: Educators as collaborators. Teachers and students can work together efficiently to create something that in the past, could not even be fathomed or articulated. The ability to use tech in the classroom is a major advantage in the education of our youth, and our future. 

This could be useful to my future classroom because these modules forced me to interact with the iPad learning tools in order to become a better educator. I do, however, have a complaint, as I do not think that this will be necessarily relevant in the future classes that I imagine myself in. I feel like many of the technology integration assignments that we have worked with would be lovely in the typical suburban classroom, but I do not see my class having access to iPads and Apple's technology. I have a hard time imagining myself in a teaching environment that has a strong emphasis on technology, although the hope is that everyone has access, I will likely be teaching in a low-income area in Oklahoma, where technology is not a top priority. Although I see the value in technological integration and why it is important to learn about it, I am unsure how universal it will be to implement this technology. 

Being an apple teacher is important because I need to be able to understand how to navigate some of the apps on the iPad in case my students have questions. I learned a lot from earning these badges because I didn’t know how to use a lot of these apps. Now that I have navigated my way through these apps, I am better equipped to creat fun and engaging activities for my students that use technology. Now, I am able to help guide and support their use of technology and iPads on a much deeper level and with more confidence. 

The apple teacher badges are relevant to my future classroom because they help me to understand the tools I may use in the classroom. I chose the iste standard “1. Empowered Learner - d. understand the fundamental concepts of technology operations, demonstrate the ability to choose, use and troubleshoot current technologies and are able to transfer their knowledge to explore emerging technologies.” I think it is important for both teachers and students to use the technology tools appropriately to further their knowledge. Along with the use of technology in classrooms I think it is important for teachers to choose appropriate means of technology to best promote students learning. 

Gaining the apple teacher badge will be beneficial when having my own classroom because it taught me how to use technology (iPads) in ways that I didn't know how to do before. Not only will this be beneficial to myself, in the aspect of creating fun assignments or activities for my students; but it will allow me to teach my students how to use the technology also. In this decade it is basically a requirement for students to know how to use technology. With my better understanding of main apps on the iPad, I can guide my students in the right direction as they are using it. 

For future classroom, it is important to be able to understand everything I show my children. If they have questions, I need to be able to help them understand what they are doing, and with these quizzes I have been able to say I understand more about the apps of the iPad. It would be so fun to do a garageband assignment with the students, and with this quiz, I have been able to understand it more. 

I could use this in my future classroom to help my students because I will be able to guide them in what they do on the iPad. Now that I know how to work the iPad, and all of the different things they can do on the iPad, I can encourage and allow my students to explore with their own iPads. I can give my students opportunities to engage and create on the iPads using their own knowledge and creativity. I can help them use the iPads to create presentations, do research, and so many other things. 

This is relevant to my future classroom because I can use some of those apps in my math classes. I can use the numbers app by having students do group projects, or even by using it to guide my lessons. I chose the leader, ISTE standard. I think this is still valuable because I will be able to hop my students with their own iPad projects and showing them how to use their abilities. 

Technology keeps growing and adapting and teachers need to grow with it and incorporate it into their classrooms. A significant number of schools in the U.S. are beginning to get iPads in their classrooms, which could be positive or negative. The teachers need to be able to use these devices in a way that is productive for the students. Apple teacher has provided in depth knowledge on a few important applications that come on all devices and how they can be applied in a classroom. This is helpful for teachers because they will be able to do more with the iPads and answer any questions that their students might have. 

I can use this knowledge to further the education of my students. I can use the GarageBand information I have learned to introduce music into the math classroom. This will allow for more collaboration between students and myself. 

My favorite thing about this was the broadness of the assignment. It made me look at many different apps on my iPad that I simply would have never played with before this. My first thought after completing it is there a way to become and apple student as well? This type of training makes these apps relevant to me in creating with them in a way that before was just an "easier" way than an essay. I now believe more in these as instructional tools because I saw how the features can make for creative expression.
