Reflection

I can use my Apple teacher certification to bring in IPad related lessons that allow my students to utilize all the many different applications available to IPad users. As a learner, I could create an environment that facilitates communication between students and myself in order to maximize the amount of learning that occurs (despite my perceived status as a holder of vast  knowledge, there is always room to learn more. Keynote could facilitate students’ presentation creation, iMovie could be used to have students create a short film or film trailer depicting a contemporary history event, Numbers could be used to gather data of their community’s demographic, etc. 

This is relevant to my future classroom because I now feel more confident in using my iPad for current class projects.  I spent all of the iPad workshops and the past three weeks of class feeling like I walked into the middle of a conversation.  Because of this, I understand that I shouldn't just assume that a student knows how to use a piece of tech just because it is a part of a popular OS.  I also now know where to direct students for tutorials.  The Apple Teacher tutorials were great.  They allow an individual to work at their own pace, and the still images used to navigate the user during the tutorials were more helpful than trying to work with an iPad and try to watch a moving screen simultaneously.  I think the Apple Teacher badge should be required after JRCoE students receive their iPads and before they are allowed to participate in workshops.  It would have made a world a difference for me.

This is relevant because it will help me integrate technology in my classroom because I now know how to navigate through all of the iPad apps. I can use this to encourage students to think outside of the box and use their resources to create projects that would challenge them and their thinking. I think that by becoming an apple certified teacher, I now have the resources to encourage my class to use tools that will enhance their learning and their technology skills. 

This is relevant to my future classroom because if we have IPads I will be able to teach my students how to use them so that their presentations and other projects will be higher quality. Furthermore, if they know how to use these apps well, they'll be able to focus more on learning the new material. Especially helpful were the sheets and pages tutorials, because I can see using these a lot in a future classroom. Anytime students need to take data for an experiment or draw and label diagrams, they can use these apps to do so.

I chose the Facilitator standard because it focuses on helping students learn technology so that they can become better learners. As a teacher, I think it is important to make it as easy as possible for my students to learn and grow, and being a good facilitator of technology goes a long way towards making that happen.

Ipads are becoming more and more relevant in the classroom of any age. It is important that we not only have them, but we know how to use them. The apple teacher certification allows teachers to be informed on all the features that Ipads have to offer and how they could be potentially used in the classroom.

This could be relevant to my future classroom for those days where students are tired of the same curriculum. With this, I can make my students learning more interesting and I can now correctly tell them what to do. This could also come in handy for the students that are not wanting to do their work, but will do it if it is on a tablet. These test students knowledge and make the better rounded students.

With technology constantly improving and changing, I believe being an apple certified teacher will help me adapt in my future classroom. I will be the first to admit that I am not tech savvy. However, it will be crucial for me to incorporate technology into my future classroom to get the most beneficial learning for my students. With each aspect of the ipad, there is multiple ways for students to present their learning to me as a teacher. I think something that will be very useful is keynote and imovie. I believe these will be helpful when students begin to present what they have learned in front of the class. In addition, these applications will help me see what students know without having to have a physical test. This will be necessary for students who don't always test well or get nervous when they test. Although I am not a huge fan of garage band, this application could also be used in my classroom for students who might be musically inclined or even just enjoy music. Overall, each application on the ipad can play a key role in my future classroom. I find that this activity was very beneficial to add to my skills as a future teacher. 

This is relevant to my future classroom, because it taught me how to better use some of the apps on IPAD and tips on how to create different projects for each of the apps. I can use this in my future classroom through different projects that I want me students to complete. For example, they can create a song on Garage Band, create notes on Keynote and pages, and can create a movie on Imovie. This training taught me how to use all the resources on each of the applications and the steps that you take to create various projects. I chose the ISTE standard for educators 1. That standard is Learner and that is shown in this badge through teachers learning about the different apps on Ipad and how they can be implemented in the classroom.

Being an apple certified teacher is going to be super beneficial in my classroom. I want to use what I have learned to help my students look at technology in a different way. Rather than doing mundane written assignments to learn, I can also include other ways for students to demonstrate what they have learned. They can create movies to explain what they learn, create songs to help them remember different equations or facts. This opens up more opportunities that I can equip my students with so they can see how beneficial technology can be. I want to create a classroom environment where technology is used as a tool rather than a distraction. 

This can be relevant in my future classroom to help encourage students to use technology as an aid to expand their learning. Generally students use technology for fun by playing games and watching videos. But, it seems that the potential technology can have in the classroom can be over shadowed by the way technology is perceived in society today. By implementing the ISTE standard Knowledge Conductor, students are able to take control, plan, and create new things with technology. In a science class the students can make videos regarding their experiments. Also, they could explain a concept to their peers as a fun and interactive project that helped expand their learning of a topic. 

Taking these Apple Teacher quizzes taught me a lot about how to use my iPad and how my students can use iPads for projects in the classroom. Not only did I learn the logistics behind using these apps and different ways of getting creative with these iPad apps, but also different ways they can be implemented in the classroom. I think this activity correlates with several ISTE standards, but in particular, it coincides with the Designer standard because students have the ability to create different projects.

I believe that becoming an Apple Certified Teacher is extremely important, especially in the technological age that we are currently and will continually be in. We can see that technology is becoming increasingly important in schools. If we look at different districts, we can see that these schools are trying to implement technology in ways that will benefit their students. Using the example of Norman, we see that schools here have access to Apple TVs as well as individual MacBooks. Knowing how to use this technology not only benefits you, but it also benefits your students. Becoming an Apple Teacher shows that I am taking steps to stay relevant to my students and the changing times. In my future classroom I can use these skills to implement assignments and other resources to show my students that technology and the field of mathematics go hand in hand.
