Reflection

Apple teacher I feel is an important badge to have because as a teacher, my biggest fear is falling behind the technology times. Oftentimes, students feel that their teachers do not know enough about technology and that can make them feel as though their teachers do not care enough about their education to stay in touch with the the new technology. Apple teacher can help us stay updated on the new features of apple products which will ultimately make us better teachers. I think that is extremely important. 

I think that in some ways we can underestimate the ability of a simple tool like an i pad in the classroom that if we can't use it one specific way then it can't be used. I learned that there is so much more I could use it for. I can use keynote to make presentations, that are interactive for the students. I can use Numbers to use to keep track of my students how they are progressing and see patterns of decline before they are too far gone. this also opens the door for creative exploration on the part of the students as i mentioned before the Garage band would allow me to integrate music but also the photo editing abilities would allow the students to engage in projects that deal with finding shapes in the world and use the editing to highlight those aspects. Being an ipad certified teacher gives more more than just a blackboard or whiteboard to work with it gives me unlimited capabilities. 

I hope this is irrelevant for my classroom. It has probably been too long since I was in the public school system or maybe this would seem pertinent. I figure kids better figure out how to use a word processor, but I bet I’d still accept handwritten work as a teacher. I bet some of this would come up if I got involved with yearbook or newspaper/journalism. As an aspiring English teacher, I know media literacy is just one step away from generic literacy, but this apple teacher thing is a sort of tutorial quiz. I typically skip tutorials and learn through trial and error with tech type stuff, and I did that for these quizzes same as I use those apps they mention. Apple gave me gold stars for this, so maybe I can monetize them in my future classroom, otherwise they’ll probably sit on that metaphorical shelf with the rest of my teaching tools.

Being an apple teacher is helpful in many ways. I now know how to navigate many apps on the ipad that I can use in the future with my future students. Knowing how to use these apps will help me scaffold my students and will allow my students to be able to bring creativity to the classroom. 

I can use technology in my classroom in order to incorporate different apps into my students’ projects. They can use so many different apps to expand their educational scope.

This will be relevant in my future classroom because technology is becoming more and more integrated into the classroom. I could use the iPad to enhance students learning about topics. Students could create a book or movie to show their learning instead of the standard assessments like tests. The ISTE standard I would like to use is Empowered Learner. I think an empowered learner within a student is crucial because they can take learning into their own hands. If a student is successfully able to understand technology and how it benefits education then they can have a successful schooling experience. 

Being an apple teacher is relevant to my future classroom by being able to have more experience with technology. As someone who really struggles with technology, its good to have some training over some basic apple applications that I can use in my classroom. Apple products are the most common technology which makes having an apple teacher badge way more useful. It connects with my ISTE standard of being a digital citizen because I’m learning how to connect with technology and use it correctly in my classroom. It taught the basics of the responsibilities and rules and how to use the apple teacher applications. Overall, having an apple teacher badge will help me connect with technology and make it more familiar to me in my future classroom. 

Being apple certified means I’ll know how to use the iPad correctly in a classroom setting and be able to control the kids iPads and put restrictions on them. It also means I can teach the kids cool simple things like taking a picture and being able to add text and mark ups on it to do a cool project within the classroom that they can do at home as well. If I got Apple teacher certified in other stuff like iMovie and Mac then I could show the kids how to make a class movie over what they learned and how to do simple things on the computer like open a new window and search things on google. 

I had a difficult time ultimately completing this. I had thought I knew a lot until I attempted this badge! 

This helped me learn how to be more efficient when using my iPad. This will be great for my future classroom and when using it in my classes now. I will be able to use this when teaching in my future classroom when using my iPad to teach or if I will be in a school that provides iPads, I will be able to incorporate this into my classroom. 

This certification and the tools is teaches you to use can be so beneficial to use in the classroom because it gives students another way to show their understanding of material and express creativity in a lesson. Students can use pages and keynote to create presentations over a process or story and illustrate pictures throughout. They also could include links to other websites for more information. Students could also use Garageband and iMovie for video and audio presentations to show understanding of material in a different style of presentation. Students could work in groups or individually with the technology and assign different task to group members to complete.

I think that the Apple teacher certification course has given me multiple resources that I will use in my future classroom. When I first began learning about the apps, I became easily frustrated because I assumed that most of them would not be helpful in my ELA classroom. However, I quickly found that to be far from true. The app that I am most excited to use and play with is Garage Band. It is a fun tool to play with and I think it could be used in so many ways! The ISTE standard I chose was, "leader." I chose this standard because it puts me in charge of the technology in my own classroom. I like this idea because it allows me to show my students multiple resources that are helpful to them and it holds me accountable for staying up to date and informed of current technologies.
