Susie is a 7 year old female who is very active. She has a hard time concentrating in school and often has trouble sitting still. She loves to drink kool-aid and eat cosmic brownies. What changes in her diet could impact her well-being? How?

All posted evidence

in the body

She should most likely lay off on the kool-aid and brownies! Seven years old require at least 5 portions of fruit of vegatables a day so maybe try eating those and drinking more water.

Changes in her diet to improve her dieting could be eating less snacks and more real foods, and in taking less sugar amounts.

If Susie takes part in a healthier diet, then she will have an easier time focusing in class.

Susie is at the age where she needs lots of nutrition and many resourceful things that come out of foods such as fruits and veggies. Susie eating and drinking things such as a cosmic brownie and kool-aid all of the time will cause her to not get the nutrients that she is needing. Both of these things are full of sugar, in the long run this could cause Susie some serious health issues if she is not careful. As long as Susie takes part in foods that are healthy, she will not have such a high risk. Susie can still have a brownie and some kool-aid here and there but not every single day like she is now!

If Susie decreases her sugar intake, then she would see beneficial impacts on her well-being.

Susie loves to drink kool-aid and eat cosmic brownies. This is causing Susie to have a hard time concentrating in school and not being able to sit still. Susie gets sugar rushes from these which makes her not able to sit still. Her not being able to sit still makes her not able to concentrate. If Susie cut out all of the sugar and replaced it with healthy food, then she would see an increase in her concentration levels. Susie could replace the brownie with grapes and replace the kool-aid with water.

Susie can pay attention to class better, if she eats healthier.

Susie could have an easier time concentrating and sitting still if she eats and drinks foods that will not give her a sugar rush. Since she is active, she needs to eat calorie rich foods that are healthy. Foods that have a lot of protein are good for her because they will help build her muscles. Substitutes for her snacks would be fruit. The kool aid and cosmic brownies were a form of unhealthy carbohydrates, while fruit have natural, healthy sugars.

Susie consumes too much foods that only hurt her instead of boosting her in both areas (activities and school).

Susie could try to not consume as much sugar as she does, maybe try and eat better foods that will continue to help her with her activities but also not have her hyper in school. I would recommend eating healthy snacks and hearty foods that would help her in both areas!

Try to avoid sugar, processed junk and foods with preservatives such as sodas, fries, donuts, etc and rather encourage your child to include healthy fish, eggs, nuts, fruits, vegetables in his/her daily diet. Fruits that contain vitamin C and antioxidants are good for calming the senses of your hyperactive kid.

Susie needs less sugar in diet.

Susie needs to consume less sugar because sugar can make a little kid like Susie to be very hyper. Her diet should be healthy food like protein, carbs, vegetables, and fruits. Sugary snacks should ONLY be on the weekends or after school and very few of them. She should drink milk of water instead of kool-aid.

Susie is young, she still has a lot of time to grow and mature. Starting young with a healthy diet can help your child in the long run. Kool aid and brownies have a lot of sugar which can lead to diabetes and obesity. The sugar could be making her hyper to an extent. Hyperness in younger children is common not always hand in hand with amounts of sugar intake. I suggest that instead of kool-aid give her powerade or gatorade, its healthier of an options and includes electrolytes which is really good for younger children. Instead of letting her consume brownies all the time make them for special occasions or make them when shes accomplished something. If you notice signs of obesity or diabetes put more fruits and veggies, meat, fish, dairy, and limit intake of sugar and high carbs. I suggest changing her diet to high protein diet beans, meat, nuts, seafood etc.
