New Insights Gained

One of the tips I do not consider often enough is if an app is district approved.  Often an assumption is made if we find a solid educational app that is safe and secure and ready to go.  Checking with and through our district is the best first step to ensure the desired tool is the right one.

I learned that third-party apps, if not vetted, may have the right to share student data which could dangerously share PII, and violate laws

Nice

This reaffirmed the apps that I am using, but still gave me a list of apps that I have not used yet, its rating and how to ask for permission if I want to use something new.

I learned more about thee laws that protect student privacy in school. I already realize that I should not share student information online and that I ned to guid my app questions directly to IT to Mak sure the app is safe and approved.

I learn that not all apps are approved by my district.
With the App Remind, I have to make sure that all the students on the app are who they say they are.

Student Privacy

I learned how important it is to vet everything that you use with your students. It is important to make sure your student's data is not used for any purposes such as marketing. It is essential not to grade student work in front of other students in an online environment. Finally, you have to make sure not to use message boards because they can get very risky very quick.

Reaffirmed Compliance Training

The training reaffirmed the compliance training we get in August. Student privacy is law and it is utmost importance we respect and follow the guidelines and rules.
