Formative and summative assessments

Formative assessment is to monitor students learning. These are low key assignments that teachers use to see how the students are doing while they learn a topic. Summative assessments are to evaluate the students learning at the end of a unit. For example this would be like a test or a paper. Both of these are important to use in the classroom.

Assessment

Formative assessement is measuring a child's understanding of content as the lesson progresses in order to inform the child and the teacher where the learner stands on compreheniton.
Sumative assessment is measureing  learner's understadubg of content at the end of a module in oder to determermine overall comprehension and if the learner is ready to move on to the next unit.
