LOVE IT!

I'm ready to start letting them chose their topics and am hoping that gets them even more motivated to write. One way I'd like to transition to their own topics is highlight different kinds of posts. For example: top ten things to know about..., how to..., recipe, advice column...) I'm thinking a choice board and they would have to determine which style of post would best fit what they are trying to share. I guess that would even bump up their thinking more. :)

Love "blogging" using Seesaw!

My 1st graders love being able to "blog" about their book or math problem and respond to other kids' posts! They are way more invested in the dialog when they get to type and post their thoughts and opinions!

I'll keep using this

I used to have students write in notebooks for TAG. This year I started using Seesaw. Seesaw has made this process better in so many ways. I can easily see what my students write and give them feedback. They have a much better attitude about writing on the iPad versus in a notebook, plus they're more likely to edit and make corrections. I like that parents can see what their child writes, and even comment if they would like. I love having students comment to each other. We learn about making constructive comments, and they are really excited to see what other students have to say. My students can have conversations even though they are in different groups and never see each other in real life.

I really like it!

I really how students can share their thoughts back and forth. The students seem to really enjoy when they realized they could comment on each others' post. My problem is making sure the students are taking the writing part, seriously.

Blogging in My Class

Most opportunities to blog in my class have been during my morning homeroom. Students really like getting feedback which makes blogging more authentic. The reflection was helpful, and I may use it again. I would like to try having them blog using SeeSaw and post example problems for others to view.

: )

I like that my students can critique each others work. I love that students are able to see another student explain a math problem a different way. Sometimes, hearing a student explain the lesson differently is all a struggling student needs.

I want to try working with another math class to create a sage and scribe blog. Students from different classes would pair up, one student would explain in a video how to solve a problem, the other student would follow the steps exactly the way that they were given. That student would then take a picture of their problem and together both students would check their work.

My Class Blog

I really enjoy the class blog. I feel that I will definitely use it more. Seesaw makes the process really easy. For third grade, I really like the idea of the class blog rather than individual blogs. It seems to be easier to manage and easier for the student to access.

LOVE

I am wishing I started this sooner! I used to do blogging for book clubs, but I really like doing blogging as "bell work". I love that students enjoy commenting on each other's posts!

I am also going to have students post their projects on the blog and invite parents to check it out!

Blogging reflection

I love blogging! It's a great way to practice digital citizenship in a safe environment, especially with younger students. They get to practice social media skills, and if they mess up (like posting a rude comment), I can delete it and talk to them about it. It's also a more fun, low-key way to encourage writing. I also learn a lot about my students! If I had fewer students, I would probably also have a "fun chat" blog where they could post random stuff and share that way. We do that sometimes, but I try to have them post only to the topic (except on Friday).

Blogging

I've used Kidblog in the past and have found that Seesaw blogging is a lot easier to mange than kid blogs. While I liked the individual blogs it became a lot to mange a class blog where I post some of the best work motivates students to take pride in their work.
