Text/Written reflection: In several sentences, explain:
  1. What skills did the digital center address?
  2. How might you incorporate this center into your math block/parts of your day?

All posted evidence

Digital Center

The digital center that I explored was a counting game for the K/1 ages. This game could easily be used as a center throughout the math block. I am a SPED teacher and could also see using this to assess individual student goals that center around counting or number identification skills.

Part 3 Evidence

These digital centers addressed adding and subtracting within 10.  I like that the digital games provided tools for them to choose from (5 frames,10 frames), but also gave options of materials to print and use as well.  I could see myself using these during center time and or as morning work choice some days as well.

Digital Centers

The digital centers address supporting and addressing skills of the section. In the primary grades some days have dedicated times for centers. With more intermediate grades I think a great time to incorporate centers would be to create QR codes of centers that students have been taught and have them play during morning work or when they are done with their cool down at the end of the lesson with extra time.

Connecting Cubes Digital Center

This digital center in Kindergarten helps to build on the skill of one to one counting, along with matching the same figures.  It also addresses colors and uppercase letters that the students will be matching.
I would suggest using this center as a digital center during center time in Kindergarten.  I always find it helpful to have the whole class play a new center before throwing it into the center rotations.

Proof of evidence

The digital center activities can be geared towards the students ability.  It allows students to practice what was taught or to play at the level they are at.  I played a few games against the computer.  The first game addressed the skills of counting, organizing  objects and number recognition.  Another game practiced adding and subtracting within ten.  The last game I had to add and subtract numbers and then compare.  It also teaches being a good sport because sometimes the computer wins (making a square game).
These games can be used during math block time  as a center activity for rotating centers - 1 center small group teacher time, 2nd center - independent work time and 3rd could be game time with a friend or against the computer.  It could also be used for morning work or additional play time after all work has been completed.

Digital Centers

What skills did the digital center address?
Using the digital centers deepens students understanding of the math content you are teaching them during the lessons. It gives the students the opportunity to practice these skills on their own with corrective feedback during the lesson.

How might you incorporate this center into your math block/parts of your day?
In Kindergarten we do centers each day; most of the time they are hands on centers with various math manipulatives. I can use these digital centers in place of the hands on centers on their ipads, 2-3 times of week during center time to deepen students understanding on a specific math content. I can also assign different centers to different students based on their academic needs.
