Commitment to Change

I am excited to use forms, sheets and slides for opening communication pathways with my students and their families.

There were a few sessions which covered how to create and use the basic Google creative tools for using to communicating with students and families. I will celebrate this by noting the positive responses that come back. With that encouragement I will add to my presentations and find further uses for it. I am going to substitute paper class newsletters and forms for field trip info and classroom celebration/party organizing.

1) Use a tool YET. 2) How you will celebrate 3) Explain what practice will you substitute with the use of this tool.

Tool: Learned how to use data to make charts/graphs
Celebrate/Substitute: I will have patience and start with substitution activities in math as graphing most relates to math. Celebrations will include helping each other out and celebrating group/partner/ and individual successes.

Google Sheets. I will celebrate this outcome by sharing the results with my fellow teachers. it can substitute pen and pencil graphing.

YouTube

Although I do not completely know how to use it YET, I plan on utilizing YouTube A LOT in my classroom. I learned how to block ads and display YouTube videos safely. I will celebrate this with my class because I know they will enjoy watching all of the videos I am going to find! Also, I will celebrate engaging students' parents as well. My introductions to lessons are going to be so much more interesting now!! I will substitute boring pictures for a video instead!

Google Sites

1. Even though I don't know how to YET, I will use these tools to create a google site for my students and parents to stay informed.
2. I will provide help to my colleagues who do not know how to use google sites so we can be united and celebrate our technology achievements. I could also put bonus questions on my website for my kids to try to find the answer and get a prize for the first one who gets the answer correct.
3. I will not need to send a piece of paper home with important information and hope it gets to the parents.

I plan to use Google forms in various ways to improve the learning experience.

I have never used Google Forms until yesterday. I plan to use this tool to get to know my students, collect date, as well as assess student learning/progress. I plan to learn from my mistakes, and celebrate the success of the colleagues and students along the way.

I am not comfortable with using Google Slides, YET. Yesterday, I made a nice presentation and will use this in Science.

A tool I will use is Lesson Planet, I will celebrate by sharing with my staff, and I will have more time for other things
