 identifying and paraphrasing main ideas and details are difficult for students at any grade level including high school.  These skills are essential for students to summarize information in order to answer questions and write research papers.  This will be very beneficial to students in all content areas.

This strategy seems to very appropriate to the needs of middle school students that struggle with reading and summarizing passages. I like the explicit, routine of the instructional process.
