I attended The Fundamentals of Paraphrasing and Summarizing at a professional development held on Dec. 04, 06 & 07 of 2017.

I believe this strategy will really benefit my students. I love the simplicity of the graphic organizer. I also believe locating topic word(s) first and then forming central idea sentences with the topic word(s) will help my students form central idea sentences.

Attended Multi-day PL with Elizabeth Gibbs, Pam Leitzel Profressional Developers.

The fundamentals of paraphrasing and summarizing is a vital strategy for middle and high school students who struggle with complex text and can be generalized in all content areas. Students can use the strategy to summarize information in order to answer questions and write research papers.

I liked how well sequenced the lessons within the strategy were. It would make it very easy to teach the steps to students and ensure they had the knowledge to move onto the next part of the strategy.
