While teachers can use Google Sites to help manage classrooms, the level of measurable interaction between teachers and students is easier to gauge in Google Classroom. Unlike with Sites, in Classroom, students can create and turn in work and teachers can monitor progress and provide feedback as students are working. Google Sites seems to be more for information dispersal platform, and while Google Classroom can also be used to make announcements and share information, it can also be used to provide feedback and grades on specific assignments. This cannot be done through Sites. Another difference between Google Sites and Google Classroom is that students can choose to be notified when new items are posted to Classroom. While it might be possible to get notifications from Sites, that feature is not as easily accessible as it is on Classroom, so students would have to either be told to check Sites for updates or develop the habit to do so themselves. Overall, these differences make Google Classroom a much more effective classroom management tool than Google Sites.
