Answer to reflection questions

  1. Do you believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for your students? Why or why not?
To an extent yes it can enhance learning. It provides another medium for teachers to present information to students and is another way that students can learn the information. So in that sense yes it can, on the other hand it should be used periodically. If mixed in with "normal" instruction the right way, I think that it provides students with a awesome breakaway avenue. They get to have some personal or group time and learn in a different way. I do think that listening to a teacher present information, whether it is on slides, note packets or just talking should be the primary way of learning because it opens up for a lot of interaction/discussion if the students are willing to engage and add to the learning.

2. How do you plan to use EdPuzzle with your students?

I would use Ed Puzzle as I mentioned above, every so often to give the students and myself a break from traditional learning. Giving them "freedom" to learn and engage on their own and maybe in a way that is better for them. Through out the course of my units I always try to include some type of projects of class assignment and this is where EdPuzzle would come into play. Providing them with a discovery type of learning will keep them involved in class, engaged in the material and hopefully give them something that will help them retain information.

Answer to reflection questions.

  • Do you believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for your students? Why or why not?
    • I believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for my students by providing an alternative way of learning such as a flipped classroom to open up in-class time for working on skills that were pre-taught through the video. I also believe this will provide supplemental learning for students who may not be grasping a concept.
  • How do you plan to use EdPuzzle with your students?
    • I plan on using EdPuzzle to provide supplemental learning for my students so they can learn through a medium they are used to (not direct lecture). This will also allow for the ability to transition to a flipped classroom design if needed, and also assist in providing more indepth learning on a topic.

Edpuzzle Reflection

I do believe that Edpuzzle will enhance student learning within the classroom. It is interactive for the students. Students are familiar with technology and typically like watching videos. Instead of just watching an entire video, I believe it is beneficial for the students to stop and answer the questions to monitor their comprehension. The quizzes are an easy way to check students' understanding and it's also multimodal. There is an option for audio notes which help students who are auditory learners and it promotes critical thinking through the open ended questions. This could easily be used for a substitute teacher as well or even when you need to reteach a lesson.

I plan to use Edpuzzle with my students more often. I would like to use it as mini assessments or exit tickets. It will provide me quick feedback of what the students are succeeding or struggling with. It would also be a good idea to use it for review. I am also interested in students creating videos based on their learning.

Edpuzzle Use

Yes I believe Edpuzzle will help student learning.  By incorporating interactive elements such as quizzes, audio notes, and open-ended questions, EdPuzzle provides students with an opportunity to engage with the material actively and helps them retain information more effectively while helping teachers track student work easily.

I can use an open class edpuzzle setup for PD.  Teachers, like their students, enjoy some autonomy in learning as well as accountability.   I would also like to explore having teachers/students make their own videos in Edpuzzle.

Excited to use EdPuzzle again in the future

1.  Do you believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for your students? Why or why not?
Yes I believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for my cosmetology students.  Students often have to watch demonstrations of videos of related procedures.  This will allow student to actively participate during the video and hold them accountable for what they are watching.

2.
How do you plan to use EdPuzzle with your students?
I currently have students watch NYS board cosmetology videos.  They watch these videos and then complete the skill on a manikin.  These skills are needed to successfully pass the exam to become licensed in NYS.  I will use these videos in place of paper assessment.  Students will have to answer the questions correctly while watching the video prior to demonstrating on the manikin.

Please see my answers below.

1. I believe that EdPuzzle will enhance my students learning.  The ability to not only ensure that they are actively participating in the assigned content but also to have data on their level of understanding will greatly influence the way I teach and I hope the depth of understanding that my students have.

2) I plan on using EdPuzzle as a means of enhancing my approach to using a Flipped model of teaching.  EdPuzzle will provide me with evidence and data of the level of understanding that both classes as a whole as well as individual students have on the topics and assignments they work on.

How will I use it

I plan to use Ed puzzle by taking the review videos I show for all works of literature read and adding questions to enhance review before tests.  It could also be a fun way to incorporate a review game or competition.

Enhance student learning

I do think that Ed puzzle will enhance student learning.  It ensures that students are really watching and paying careful attention to any video posted.  The questions help teachers to see their understanding.  It also incorporates accountability for students who now cannot be dishonest about watching videos assigned.

EdPuzzle

I find EdPuzzle to be such a valuable tool. While this was immensely helpful last year when students were hybrid or virtual, I see great benefit in continuing to use this during in-person instruction.  I love that I can get real-time feedback from my students to assess their understanding.  This is so useful for students who are absent and miss parts of a read-aloud or a lesson. This is also a great tool for teachers who use a flipped classroom model.
