I really like EdPuzzle.  I know it will enhance learning for my Spanish students.  I see students use the videos that I have made for notes and lessons.  They just run through the video and write the essential information down and they never listen to the whole lesson.  This makes students slow down.  It also allows students to work at their own pace.    I plan to use EdPuzzle for vocabulary, grammar and especially cultural lessons.  I like the idea of being able to assign this to classes.  They can watch a video in Spanish and I can assign different types of questions based on the part of the video they are watching.  The EdPuzzle I created will be the opener to the lesson on disabilities.  The beginning of the story I can ask a few Spanish questions and then because I teach level 1, I can switch to English for overall comprehension and extension questions.  Doing the video individually will give all students information to talk about when the class discusses this in cooperative learning groups.

EdPuzzle Reflection

  1. Do you believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for your students? Why or why not?
Yes I do believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for my students.  I have used EdPuzzle via Nearpod and I love it because the students can't fast forward and it "forces" them to listen/watch the whole video.  It also checks for understanding at various points throughout the video.  The library of video's on EdPuzzle is quite extensive, which saves a lot of time on a planning perspective.  I hadn't really searched EdPuzzle's library before, I have only used Youtube Video's  and created my own.

2.  How do you plan to use EdPuzzle with your students?
Actually, I love using EdPuzzle when I am going to be out of school for the day because the students still get a lesson and I can assess the students to see what they learned while I was out.  As I was doing this assignment I noticed that there are a lot of video's that I can use for my classes that I didn't even know existed, so I plan on incorporating them into my lesson's where they fit.

Reflection Questions ___ Dan Cox

1. Yes.  I do think that EdPuzzle would help my students.  I teach at the high school level, mostly English 11, and my students are extremely visual.  I have many students who need visual reinforcements after reading texts.  EdPuzzle would allow me to find or create videos to assist my students in their learning.
2.  EdPuzzle has the potential to work in my classroom by being an alternative to "traditional" learning materials.  I would be able to link specific videos to lessons to ensure that my students are comprehending the materials as well as a way to reinforce learning.

Questions 1 and 2

  1. I believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for students.  Students can watch videos with curriculum specific content and answer questions to confirm accountability.  Students are also allowed to learn at their own speed.  Some may read and process quicker than others and will not become board.  It’s a great way to break down videos and make sure students are understanding the main points.
  2. I plan to make and use videos I have already made to create questions, so I know my students are really interested and paying attention.

Reflection on learning of EdPuzzle.

I really enjoyed exploring EdPuzzle. I have heard of it prior to this class but have never used it with my classes before. While watching the videos and playing around I thoughts of ways that my current students would be able to use EdPuzzle to show their understanding of their learning. I feel that it is something that my students would be interested in using and would willingly complete. I plan to use it as a part of our new reading program that we are hoping to implement starting the end of April.  I would like to see my students show their understanding and comprehension of story books that are being read to them. I think that EdPuzzle would be a great way to assess their understanding of the story and also to apply their knowledge of story elements. I look forward to seeing what my students think.

Do you believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for your students? Why or why not? How do you plan to use EdPuzzle with your students?

I am excited to use EdPuzzle with my fifth graders. My son often uses it is sixth grade for multiple subjects and I have always wanted to explore it but never found the time. This class was just perfect for me.
The puzzles I found will be a great way to informally assess the learning we're doing in class already. There were several math topics related to our current topics: review multiplication, fractions, etc. These Edpuzzles will definitely enhance instruction. I also found some science and social studies videos that will support our learning in those subjects.
When I think about the ways I will use Edpuzzles, I like the idea of previewing and reviewing material with them. Students love technology. Having an EdPuzzle to help them review material or study for a test or quiz will be enjoyable for them. It can tell me whether there is understanding by answering the checkpoint questions. Win win for all.

Reflection of Learning on EdPuzzle

I would use this tool to review content, provide enrichment, or even assess student learning.  I believe this tool would be beneficial if I used it during independent center time, while I worked with a small group of learners.  My second graders would be engaged with the videos so long as I kept them short (maybe 7 minutes or less).  This would help me meet individualized needs and goals in my classroom.

Do you believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for your students? Why or why not? How do you plan to use EdPuzzle with your students?

I believe EdPuzzle could be beneficial to enhance my students learning.  This is a great way to have a student learn about a topic at an independent pace and it gives an ability to keep the students accountable.
I envision using this with video that could be pushed out as a simple homework assignment.  Based on the video, this was more of a response to remote instruction and I see it staying more for a remote use than during class time.

Part 4

  1. Do you believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for your students? Why or why not?
Yes, I think EdPuzzle would enhance my students learning. My students are very technology driven and they love using their iPad any time possible. I like that I can assign my students certain videos to watch and can see if and when they are watching them. I think the available content on EdPuzzle relates to the content I teach within my classroom and it's amazing that I don't have to take the time to make all the content myself!
  1. How do you plan to use EdPuzzle with your students?
I plan on using EdPuzzle during center time and independent work time. I think it is use friendly enough where my students would be able to figure it out on their own so when I am doing center groups they are engaged and focused on something. I also think EdPuzzle would be nice to use when students are struggling and need an extra boost on a certain material. They can watch these videos and answer questions as they are learning.

Do you believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for your students? Why or why not? How do you plan to use EdPuzzle with your students?

I have been told about EdPuzzle before, and always wanted to explore it. This class gave me the opportunity to explore all it can do and already find multiple ways in which I will use it. In a lesson I did this week, I created the EdPuzzle for A River Ran Wild and used it for my learnings during my AIS/RTI groups to review what we did in class. This way I practiced using it first with a small group, and I also retaught a lesson that was harder with those kiddos in a new way.  I do think EdPuzzle will enhance my student learning because it can be far more engaging than teacher-direct instruction. I discovered many lessons that I can use for extra review on topics we talk about in class. I envision being able to use this tool often during morning work, to give more instruction on a skill or topic, that is student paced and whereas I can be doing other things while students engage in this activity.

Edpuzzle

Yes I believe that EdPuzzle will enhance learning for your students because it will increase engagement and provide a different way to scaffold public speaking.

I plan to use EdPuzzle with your students as a way of discussing argument writing as an ELA teacher. I also plan to use it as a way of providing accomodations for students with IEPs.
