These were the first ideas that popped into my head when I thought about constructing their knowledge.
Social Studies
*Community-- Students start by exploring their school community, then explore their local community.
Students can take pictures, or possibly find pictures online, and make place them in google slides as part of a presentation.
* Family -- Students discuss what is a family, how families change over time, traditions and why families are important to us.
Students can use jamboard (?) to draw a family tree. Students can record a short vlog, telling about their family. Maybe students can contribute to a flipgrid about families, but I will have to learn a lot more about this program.
** I think book creator would work well for both of these topics also, as well as, Writer's Workshop. Looking over the "38" Ways Students Can Create Digital Content", I can totally see first graders - with some assistance, creating a book, comic, comic strip, writing reviews, writing fan fiction or creating a personal logo. All these items, with the exception of creating a personal logo and fan fiction, fall under our current Writing Curriculum.
