"Be in the Present."

The first point that stood out is, "Be in the Present".  Be aware and truly give your full attention to what is happening right now.  Too often, as an educator, my concerns are about planning for the future.  I get consumed by what I need to do next and do not live in the present. Am I really listening and able to give a thoughtful response when I am thinking about my next move ? , absolutely not.   My mind is moving forward like I am rushing to get on the next train out of here.  I need to be mindful and live in the present.
The other point that really stood out for me is, "If I do my best every day, it will be enough."   I need to realize that I can act as a guide and trust that the students will work along side me to "fix: their situation.  If I provide a safe environment and believe in them, it sets the table for good things to happen.

-Connect with colleagues -Self Care

One key practice that resonated with me is to connect with colleagues. This means to be real with someone to share struggles, strengths and gain a different perspective on situations with students. The goal with connecting with a colleague is to be able to relate with someone and together have a better understanding of your role and limitations as an educator.

Another key practice is self care. Self care encompasses a wide variety of aspects that when we are doing well in each area provide centering and balance to our lives. Self care is the physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and emotional aspects of our lives. One comment that I hadn't thought of before is thinking of the intellectual well being as being flexible and adaptable to situations. As educators, I think this is especially important that we don't get stuck in the same way of thinking all the time.

2-3 resilience practices that resonate with me

The first that resonates with me is immersing yourself and others in stories of recovery.  I think it is important to concentrate on the positives people have achieved in overcoming their fatigue and growing compassionately.  I think in our world today with all the negative things we hear and see its important to concentrate on positives and hearing stories of recovery show it can be done and people can change and grow, shows kids can grow.

The second component is reaching out to colleagues.  I believe it is important to find someone who you can share with and discuss the hard times as well.  Being able to share with someone can wake you up and help you move forward and not become tired.  Working with others and leaning on them can help with fatigue.
