The first point that stood out is, "Be in the Present". Be aware and truly give your full attention to what is happening right now. Too often, as an educator, my concerns are about planning for the future. I get consumed by what I need to do next and do not live in the present. Am I really listening and able to give a thoughtful response when I am thinking about my next move ? , absolutely not. My mind is moving forward like I am rushing to get on the next train out of here. I need to be mindful and live in the present.
The other point that really stood out for me is, "If I do my best every day, it will be enough." I need to realize that I can act as a guide and trust that the students will work along side me to "fix: their situation. If I provide a safe environment and believe in them, it sets the table for good things to happen.
