By attending this workshop, I am a learner. I’m learning and will continue to learn how to use technology to make my teaching most effective for my students. By utilizing google calendar as a tool in my classroom, I am learning to schedule my time and be as efficient as I can, as well as teaching my students to use technology for their benefit and use.

Collaborator

Collaborator: Educators dedicate time to collaborate with both colleagues and students to improve practice, discover and share resources and ideas, and solve problems. Educators: 4a- Dedicate planning time to collaborate with colleagues to create authentic learning experiences that leverage technology. 4b-Collaborate and co-learn with students to discover and use new digital resources and diagnose and troubleshoot technology issues. 4c-Use collaborative tools to expand students' authentic, real-world learning experiences by engaging virtually with experts, teams and students, locally and globally. 4d-Demonstrate cultural competency when communicating with students, parents and colleagues and interact with them as co-collaborators in student learning.

I think this perfectly embodies this interaction with the tech professional at my future school, especially with other points I have made like being in charge of solving the problem ourselves, and not just thinking about what I can get out of this for myself. I think this is important not only for just the tech director, but also all other teachers, administration and all people in the school to facilitate the best working relationships and community in the entire school.

ISTE Standards for Educators

Collaborator: Dedicate planning time to collaborate with colleagues to create authentic learning experiences that leverage technology.

I think that this is especially true with this workshop because we were taught about collaborations that leverage technology. For example, I learned that if I want to use a blocked website I can actually collaborate with colleagues to unblock those and experience leveraged technology. I like how we thought of these relationships as partnerships where we can work together to make the best experience possible for our students.

ISTE Standards

I think that this webinar best demonstrates Learner and Leader ISTE standards. By looking for practices and better equipping classrooms with the knowledge that is needed for improving student learning, teachers are becoming a learner. This meets the leader standard because as teachers, we are supporting students and finding ways to promote individuality, identity and success within education.
Learner- Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve student learning.
Leader-Educators seek out opportunities for leadership to support student empowerment and success and to improve teaching and learning.

ISTE Standards

Learner: Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve student learning.

I think that this ISTE standard fits closely with the premise of the webinar because I sought out to learn more about this technology that I didn't know before. Doing any sort of webinars or workshops has this ISTE standard attached to it because it's us as educators going and learning more than we already knew before.

Collaborator - Educators dedicate time to collaborate with both colleagues and students to improve practice, discover and share resources and ideas, and solve problems.

In addition, I think the Collaborator ISTE standard might apply to this. The Google Calendar in the school has the ability to allow teachers to collaborate more effectively to make their classes more uniform (if schools enforce that) as well as give them the ability to quickly be able to create a calendar between the department so they can get together and help students succeed in their classes.

Learner

Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve student learning. Educators:

This webinar not only taught me about how to teach hard history in my classroom but also gave me an insight into webinars and how I could possibly use them in my classroom. I think webinars would be a great tool to use when a student misses school or to record lectures for a student to always go back to. The great thing about this webinar is that there was a text box where you could chat with the leader and other people in the webinar which would help a lot. So overall I was the learner in webinars which makes me then want to become a designer of webinars as well.
