Dr. Renee Calhoon and Dr. Patty Kohler-Evans hosted CLLI in July 2025. During this time, I was able to learn about the history of the KUCRL and MCL. I also was able to ensure I had a clear understanding of CER, LS, and XR--both the similarities and differences. Common vocabulary was essential during the CLLI, along with an in-depth understanding of what reading intervention (that is evidence and research based) could look like in a school using the Content Literacy Continuum. We did a deep dive into all 5 stages. There was also a focus on learning how to best teach and coach adult learners. While adult learners are similar to students, there are distinct differences that must be addressed in order to have a successful PD. Dr. Calhoon and Dr. Kohler-Evans both gave me situations that they had encountered and asked what I would do in that situation. This was probably one of the most beneficial aspects of CLLI.
