What are Open Badges?

Open Badges are an online standard created to recognize and verify learning.  The Open Badge Framework is a collection of technologies which allow apps to create learning badges that are open and shareable.  Open Badges as a project are being developed by the Mozilla Foundation, the non-profit organization behind the Firefox web browser.
