AI is used in self-driving cars, programs like Siri and Alexa, and Google Translate. AI is also used to modify photos in things like Snapchat or Instagram filters. AI can be useful for teachers by providing assistance with tasks like lesson planning, designing emails, and creating rubrics.
I use Alexa often at home. Sometimes I use it for something as simple as setting a timer when I’m cooking or reminding me of an appointment. I also use it to come up with trivia questions to play with my husband when we’re bored at home. Occasionally, I've noticed that the trivia questions can become repetitive. I think that the program is probably monetized, so they can only allow Alexa to provide a few questions.
AI makes things easier for me when I’m cooking. Not only have I used it to set a timer, but I can also ask it to help me brainstorm recipes with whatever ingredients I have on hand at home. At the same time, AI isn’t perfect. It’s given me recipes before that don’t work well. I said that I wanted to make a dessert with brown sugar, and it gave me a recipe for brownies with brown sugar. When I checked the recipe online, a lot of people said that brown sugar in brownies tends to burn. AI hasn’t cooked before, so it wouldn’t know something like that.
