Video Reflection

The video will show a review of the Fund. of Sentence Writing strategy.  I taught this to an ELL Reading class a few months before and the teacher asked to do a review right before their finals.  I tried to pull the activity sheets that would review MARK, PENS, the five pieces of a complete sentence, Infinitives and Prepositions.  Most of the students did pretty good on remembering the parts to the strategy.  Since there is a range of language acquisition in this class, many still struggled understanding infinitives and prepositions.  The teacher was there to translate when needed.  I would have liked to have more time, instead of cramming into one lesson.  The class time is broken in half by lunch.  After lunch, I review a little more on ways that this strategy could be used in all their other classes.  They understood.  That portion was not filmed.  I am still amazed at how well this group of high school students help each other out.  They  work very well together.  The teacher is hoping to continue to use this strategy with them next year and even talks of trying Proficiency in Sentence Writing to challenge the students.
