Instruct a Teacher

I have worked with a colleague to draft several Frames and have coached her through the use of these drafts for trainings we have conducted in school divisions. Topics have included supplementary aides and services and the six co-teaching models.  I also recently conducted a training in conjunction with a SIM professional developer for a group of teachers on how to use the Framing routine so they were provided guidance on how to use the Frame in their classrooms.

Follow-up coaching was offered to every teacher that participated in the FRAME professional development offered in June 2015.

One teacher in particular became very excited about the Content Enhancement Routines and was eager to collect more. We have been meeting monthly to draft FRAMES for upcoming units by determining which content truly warrants the use of the FRAME. I provided her with the implementation checklist so she could reflect after co-construction to see if she is implementing with fidelity. This teacher is very conscientious and self-reflective, so discussing how she could improve the delivery of the FRAME was easy. The challenging part, was helping her select the appropriate content for the FRAME because she wanted to use it all the time.
