Real Co-Teachers of Virginia Academy

July 15, 2023

Moreover than not, I feel excited about this opportunity because of the fact that I've been searching for something more "developmental" when it comes to my professional career. To be honest, after working for 10 years, I'm getting bored of just being a special education teacher who has a piece of paper saying I'm qualified to teacher Algebra as well.

Real Co-Teachers of Virginia Academy, July 15, 2022, Richmond, Virginia.

I attended the Real Co-Teachers of Virginia Academy on July 15, 2022, in Richmond, Virginia. I have been in a school system where SIM was used for only a very short time. The training we received at that school, did not leave me wanting to use it again. I was apprehensive but the presentation last summer left me curious.

Real Co-Teachers of Virginia Academy on July 15, 2022

After attending the Academy, I was apprehensive about the Framing Routine. My co-teacher and I have developed notes for our classroom that we use and I was not sure how the FRAME could be used in our classes.

JMU-CTERM 2022/FRAMING Routine

I attended JMU C-TERM on June 28, 2022.  At C-TERM, I attended the FRAMING Content Enhancement Routine professional development provided by Leslie Murphy Brown.  I enjoyed learning about the routine and various ways that I could use it to help my students with disability organize and learn key details in the units that I teach.  I love that the routine can be modified to meet the unique needs of my students.

C-TERM 2022 @ JMU

I attended the FRAMING Content Enhancement Routine PD on June 28, 2022.  The PD was at C-TERM at JMU and was a wonderful experience.  It was a lot of information to take in, but the PD gave a great insight to how it would better support our students.

I taught a framing routine on types of sentences. It was helpful to do as a group of students talking together through the frame.

I attended this training on November 7th, 2022 with Renee Smith and Jane Hines.

I am excited about the endless possibilities that this could be used for. As a content specialist, I support learning strategies teachers. I was able to create Frames that break down each of the standards, which I can then share with teachers during training sessions. Renee and Jane were so helpful and supportive throughout this process.

I attended this training on July 15th, 2022 with Morri Pace as the Professional Developer.

Although this training does not specifically apply to PreK, Morri Pace (the professional developer) made an effort to assist us in finding a way to make it work for our young students.
